handlers Also, bad for the entire breed. If we do not expect and see the best in the ring, why bother? |
This past weekend at the shows in Ridgefield Wa a dog that a pro was showing went 1st in the open dog class and also won one of the majors. The movement was so bad that several of the handlers confronted the judge and they also reported it to the AKC rep who came to ring side on the last day. The rep apologized to one of the owners of one of the open male dogs. I am not sure what will happen to the judges that placed a handler instead of a dog but we will see. The dog is pretty but should be x-ray, it did not belong in the show ring, it belongs in the vets getting neutered!!! Shame on the breeder , shame on the owner and most of all shame on the handler. This dog is probably going to be used for breeding after he gets finished or why else would the owner be showing him. It is so sad that our breed has so many problems. |
shows Prehaps, a new era is emerging..if more made a formal complaint, maybe breeds and handlers would realize they can not skirt by on previous wins or champions...each entry must be the best. |
Wow....I agree Did it say that "all prize money" will be awarded to Handler? So, if your dog wins 250.00 for BIS...or something.....the Handler keeps it????? Better start saving up....;) |

It does depend on the handler and the agreement that she has with you. Recently the handler that won BIS at our show would not let me hold the prize money up in the picture because her agreement w/ the owner is that if it is in the picture the owner gets it. I think this is rare as most get the prize money anyway, but that is how it worked in this case.:aimeeyork |
