hi i was just chating with someone on here who was saying UKC seems like a easyer venue for novice handlers like me to show in and i was wondering who in here shows ukc and what insight you may have for me ... thanks everyone

ohh please do i found a ukc show in sacramento *2hrs* next weekend i am planing on going to watch thanks Kelly

could you forward mine as well!? I am trying to learn about the show world, handling, etc. It would be very much appreciated! I dont know anyone, I have no idea even where to start. Ive looked up local clubs, but their websites are VERY much outdated..

I might suggest you talk to Mardlin here on YT. She's in southern Cal and always willing to help a newbie interested in showing. Mary and I both only show AKC and I think she can help make you feel more comfortable. She has a vast amount of knowledge in every aspect of Yorkies and showing. Good luck to you!

thank you i will i showed australian shepherds like ten years ago ...and to be totaly honest they are extreemly easy and i only did it 4 or 5 times last year when i tryed showing amy's yorkie she froze in the ring, laid down and i had to stand in front of her with a treat to make her even walk lol:rolleyes: i didnt want to drag her

i went to www.Unitedkennelclub.com and found out where shows were if there are some mid range ones like fresno or somthing i would meet you there and we can look like novices together lol :cool:

Go for it gals, You'll have a ball!!! UKC is a great way to get your feet wet. See if you can show under judge Joyce Lea Hanson. She's my favorite judge, she teaches while she judges. She owns Pickwick yorkies so she knows and loves the breed. She's a wealth of education and very generous of spirit.

no one is emailing me back :thumbdown we will see, i have only found a couple that actually show in my area. How does it work using a handler? How long do they have the dog while showing? Just for one show, or do they keep the dog until they have their title? How long does it take to title? AHH so much questions! lol

hi..why can you not show her yourself with the assistance and training of a mentor...that is the best part of it is taking your baby into the ring yourself and hear all the comments the judge has about your baby?? i forwarded yall's names to the other person...

I just dont know the first thing about showing a yorkie and would feel more comfortable with someome who has experience. If I found someone, like a breeder that could mentor me that would be awesome. But right now the only breeder I have delt with isnt very helpful and she is located in another state.

Contact your local kennel club to see if they offer handling classes. You'd be surprised who you might meet and what you'll learn. Before you know it you'll have the resources and be on your way. Go for it!
