Pellered Ore and Padawis are connected very close since 2 years they exchange dogs etc, cause Tamas and Birgit fell in love with each other. It is really a winning connection, I would say Birgit is the most succesfull German breeder for the last 2 years!

that's what the dog owner told me. she got him from one person and wanted one from someone else. then they got engaged and married and merged the lines. How romantic.

So, it comes down to the hijacking of your thread.

My bows are free to my friends and Donna is a personal friend.....so, I'm not selling to Donna, as I know the rules about selling on here.

You pretty much have to buy your bows on head type....ear set, muzzle, color, etc.

Mary, I was just having some fun with you since the last three or four pages are about bows. I see you mentioned, or someone else did, large ears. I am assuming the larger bows work better for that? i have one with wide ears altho not long ears. In fact, that is probably what will keep her from doing well.

I have found the 5/8's work much better than the 7/8's on my pups the 7/8's are too much bow for my heads...the 7/8's dbl is what I use on the adults.

Go on to Laineeltd.com The site was Elaine Meltzer's until she passed last year and left it to a dear friend of hers.

If they're made shorter....they wouldn't be. That's why I pretty much make them custom. Ask for measurements.

One couldn't ask for more beautiful bows than Mary makes! I am the proud owner of several that she gave me for CJ and Fancy.

Are you saying that the dog's ear's are wider set....more on a eastie, westie look, not up tight on the top of it's head.

If you have a larger head with a wide ear set and taller ears, you would go with a much bigger bow.

Kim, I haven't bought a bow in years......I knew Elaine personally, she sold me my first bow and I still buy my wraps and bands, small ring size spray bottles from the site.

Did you ever see me get so frustrated with Denny?....The lil guy hasn't had 5 seconds of down time since he was born, even sending him to Camp Trish didn't help.

I do settle them down when they come to my house for training....but, get one that is older out of Lee's house.........what a blast.

Lainee was the greatest with new people, I always refer people to her site still.
Lainee took the time to call me with my first order to make sure I was getting what I really needed in size etc. Such a lovely lady. I hate that she is gone.

I would guess that they are pretty picky and only let the show babies go to the best show homes. There may even be a show contract involved. I would guess that they wouldn't be cheap to ship either. I wonder if it's a rough trip? I plan on introducing foreign blood into my line at some point but have yet to decide from where. I have time as I have Connor and Danali to finish first.

Don't know if you subscribe, but if you enjoy looking at the European dogs you should enjoy the Yorkie Club magazine from http://www.sweetyblue.com/ There are also wonderful articles to learn from. You can also order videos of the New York specialty, grooming videos, etc. This along with the Yorkshire Terrier magazine can be a lot of help to those who are unfamiliar with the show world.

crystalsmom 09-08-2007 06:28 AM

Thanks for the link, I had never heard of that magazine before. Looks like Betty Anne is still out there doing wonderful things. That cover with Rio is great.

You can also get Yorky club through Ebay. I found that the mag is a bit small and still full of ads. I do love looking at what is being bred in other parts of the world.

Shipping is costly $500 and up.
Also sometimes you are paying the costs of flying the breeder in and taking care of all expenses as we did when our Chatty was flown in from Germany.
One way they ship also is with a shipper that flies with the dog.
It is a very hard trip on the dogs. Also I saw someone talking about earsets on the foreign dogs, please look at the pups pics closely as a lot of breeders have tied ears up for pics making the dogs earsets appear to be nicer than they actually are. I hate that also a lot of them simply have bigger taller ears.
I know several people who imported and was not happy at all with the ears.
I have placed a very nice male we imported with a friend because the ears were simply not something that would work with the type in my program. I could not tell that from pics. He was very nice otherwise but to me I like a certain type.
And also keep in mind when you send money you are not always protected,
and be very aware of bait and switch.

Lots of good advise. I'm that way about ears too. Tiny ears and silk coat were really important to me. Betty Anne Durrer is still I think Ontario Canada so that is not too far for some.
