Used the oil on Uma :aimeeyork Used the oil on Uma after the clarifying shampoo......She looks like she lost a pound or two!!!! Is her hair supposed to look oily and hang in strings??? Super shiny. Didn"t use any conditioner. |
what kind of oil did you use some of the ae suppose to be shampooed out and others are only suppose to be rinsed out. |
How much oil did you use? And which oil? I always still use a conditioner. Have any photos? T. |
Using Emu Oil or Almond oil sparingly rubbed into the ends will do away with the oily look. Every 3rd bath use a clairfying shampoo and don't add the oil. This is to allow the skin to rest. You can also add 1 cap of oil to a cup of warm water and use as your final rinse. |
:aimeeyork I used 1 capfull of the Emu oil in 1 cup of warm water as the final rinse. That stuff must be good..cost 27.00 for 4 ounces! She didn't need the conditioner, the oil was enough. Maybe I should use half a capful? She is only four and a half pounds, and very petite boned. LOL! I can see her figure now! She is mostly all hair....uaually!!!:D |

:) Of course, the clarifying shampoo probably took out a lot of built up stuff and that could maybe make her coat lay tighter to her body? |
I only use a good capful of Emu oil per 3 cups of warm water. Emu oil is what I like the best. It may look oily for now what you used today, but will look better tomorrow and just right the next. I still use the conditioner too before the oil/water making sure to rinse out conditioner before applying the oil/water mixture. T. |

Have you tried Almond Oil...it does wonders and much cheaper than Emu Oil |
Has anyone ever used neutrogena oil & water as a final rinse ? |

Yep! Clogged pores and caused heavy flaking. |
Most of us use/d neutrogena oil. I just started using the Emu in the last 2 months and love it. It doesn't seem as oily as Neutrogena. And Mary is right that the Emu dries out faster, but I love how it leaves the hair. Now my two females I had to go the 3 cups of water to one capful Emu oil since her hair is so straight and fine. I just kept working the % till I got what worked best for her. But then I wash them every 4 days. I do add a little in my palms and rub together and then apply straight to the hair in between if needed. I have noticed it may depend on the weather and our situations/activities. Would be nice if there was just one thing that worked on all dogs at all times and in all conditions. Would make our lives so much easier. LOL :D T. |

My Tahlulah has fine hair too. Working in the oil on her already dried coat works better for her. The one thing I've found that works great for her coat is Alberto VO5 Hot Oil Treatment. I'm going to start using the Almond Oil on her since so many exhibitors are finding to work wonders. |
