Topline Hi! I need your advice. My female is 5 months old. I think her topline is not the best at this time. Do you think that topline can become great when she grow or usualy stays like it is when yorki is a puppy. |

Toplines can come and go during the growth process (especially when a female is in Season). This is why it is best not to purchase a show potential until they are a bit older. Although with a great puppy the topline usually doesn't falter |
I have found that when I have a nice topline in a pup, rarely (well never) has it went "off". Structure is so very tricky in this breed and it can surely throw us a loop now and then but it has been my experience over the past decade that once a topline settles, it stays. Once a dog reaches adult hood there is no reason for structure to go "on and off" unless there is a health issue. Good luck to you :) |
Ahhh posted to quick... a "health issue" related to the skeletal or muscular system. Disorders involving the spinal column can disrupt the entire stucture of a dog. I was not implying that a sick dog or a girl in heat would throw it off as I have never seen this. |

I've never had a male pup whose topline was solid from infancy go off. I've had, on occassion a female in Season, especially their first Season go quirky on me. I can look at her one day and she's great and look at her the next day and freak. |

That's because she's mad at the world and refusing to hold her self right...just like me when I'm like that... LOL! No...jokes aside... and that WAS a joke mind you... that is interesting to me, because I've never seen one of my girl's TL go off while in season. Thanks for bringing it up as I will make a notation of it for future ref. You just never know and every dog is different. Thanks. |

Yes, you are correct, they do go mentally wacko when in season even though I've never seen structure go off then, but personality and temperment...YES! Coat color in females while in season has been a real challenge for me. Nice color can go drab very quickly at no fault of anything other than those pesky hormones. Am learning ways to combat that naturally. Thanks for all your input. |
Hey Robbie, Long time no see. How are things going? Have you been showing Levi? How's he doing? I have a gal having her first heat now and her topline looks off because she's carrying her tail all tucked or swishing it side to side. |

There's the key word "looks" but isn't. Good luck with her, I am expecting wonderful things from your babies someday :) How is that little Connor doing? He was such a sweet little guy when I met him last month~! You both are! Will send you an email about Levi... and he's doing great, thanks for asking. Have a couple new babies venturing out now. You coming to Hickory in August? |
Dang, I feel like a thread hogger, and do not mean to be. My apologies to the OP. Tami...did you get the pic I sent you last month of Connor in Hampton? I never heard back from you. I finally got Levi's win pics...the one with Ashley is really good. Talk soon. |
I don't know about Hickory, there is a cluster in Roanoke the first of August. It has a puppy match and I think I'm going to enter Danali in it and see what the judges think. Yes, I got the pic, thanks. I'll email you as I have a new address. |
