Question for those of you who show... I know you have to keep the coat in top condition, so do you keep their hair in wraps until show day? I don't show my yorkies but I still love them to have a topknot with a full coat. But I have been having a lot of problems with the hair breaking where their topknot is. I always put their hair up in a topknot but the band is breaking the hair really bad. I just had to cut Scampers topknot because it got so damaged from the bands breaking his hair. So would I have to wrap the hair for the topknot in order to prevent breaking or is there another way you guys do it or a product that helps? I hate seeing their hair in their face and although bangs are cute I love the topknot. So should I start wrapping their hair so the topknot hair won't break? I seen a picture tutorial on wrapping a topknot for a maltese. Their hair is white so you don't notice the paper that is in it. But with a yorkie you would right? Or do you do it different or is there a way of hiding the paper? Anyone help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! |
I'd try coated rubber bands or get a product called royal coatlin <old product may be hard to find> but if the top knot breaks real easy maybe not much you can do. I have a bitch that has really fine hair on her head so it just takes extra care. When I showed her the top knot had about 1/2 of hair in the front but you could never tell it was that short LOL. Some yorkies just have very fine top knot hair. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
You might try this site https://secure.highspeedweb.net/~ldcpet/aa-shaws.htm. They have the Royal Coatalin and it's wonderful! |
Try one of the very small terry cloth bands that they make for little girls. It's alot gentler to the hair. Also make sure the you take it out daily and brush it so that no matts can occur and break the hair. |
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!! I will try the terry cloth bands and the Royal Coatalin and see if they help, thank you!! |
