Ottumwa Iowa Dog Show 1 Attachment(s) :) Yeah!!!! Brody went to his 3rd dog show this last weekend in Iowa. On Saturday he got 1st and Reserve. The next day he got 1st, WD and BOS! He now has 2 points. He did much better in the ring this time. I think he finally decided it was better to walk than be "dragged" or "jerked" around the ring. He is starting to put his tail up better but still needs work on stacking and standing on the table. Didn't get any pictures this time except the one the show photographer took and when I get it back and IF my scanner works, I'll try and scan it on here. His next show is on the 29th of this month in Decatur, Illinois. That's his birthday so I have entered him in the 12-18 mo. class. Wish he was ready for open but I know he isn't. (even if he had gone breed, I wouldn\'t have put him in group - he isn\'t ready yet. Soon I hope!! Attachment 111221 |
Congratulations!!! |
:number1ri CONGRATULATIONS Brody! It must be very satisfying to win those awards. I hope you don't mind (as I am wanting to learn), what is "WD", "BOS" and what are points, "stacking" and "standing"? Or perhaps you can point me to a resource book/material to learn the lingo. I appreciate your help. Again, congratulations! :animal36 :bravo: Thanks from a Newbiemom who wants to learn to show. |
Hi. Thank you. WD means Winners Dog (thats the one who gets the points). BOS means Best of Opposite Sex. WB means Winners Bitch. (they get points too) BOB means Best of Breed. 15 points are needed to become a champion. 1,2,3,4,5 points. (3,4,5 points are considered majors. You need to get 2 of those.) First they judge all the males, then the females. Stacking is posing the dog on the floor or on the table for the Judge to examine. Its best if you go to the web site for AKC and there it will explain dog shows better. Also if there were any shows near your location you could attend, someone could explain some of it to you. You can go on the web site Infodog.com and it will list dates and times in your area for upcoming dog shows. I could never explain all of that to you, it is confusing and I still get mixed up sometimes. If I tried to explain, I would probably confuse you more. It is fun to show dogs. I never realized how much I missed doing it until I started again. All the people you meet, and most are very helpful. Its nice to get to travel a little. After 12 years being out of showing I am finding that there are still people doing it that remember me. Its great to reaquaint with them. Wish I could explain it better to you. Some of the ladies on this Forum that show are very helpful and have alot of information too. Once again, thanks! |
Thank you for the information. I filed your post for reference. And thanks for the tips on where to find additional info. Again, congratulations on your accomplishment with Brody! |
Brody is Beautiful!!! Brody's pictures are beautiful. How do you get his topknot to be so perfect? My babies have them in for 2 minutes and they slide right out. Also, how much does he weigh? He looks pretty tiny. I have a 3 lb beauty boy I would love to show but I'm afraid he's too tiny. He is 15 mo. old. |
Congratulations on a wonderful weekend! What a beautiful boy! |
Congratulations on your win!!! Good luck at the end of the month. |
Wow how exciting!! Good job little Brody!! Would love to see more pics of him-he looks gorgeous!! Congratulations!! |
Congratulation to you and Brody!!! |
