Size of Bitches Hello, I was wondering what size of bitch does well in the ring. Not particularly speaking of a specials bitch, just a nice finishable one. Thanks, Karen Grande |

Very few bitches are specialed, however the same would apply to those that are. |
Thank you That's good to know. Just the size I like. :) |

There was a recent article in the Yorkshire Terrier Magazine....describing a foundation bitch......some of the top breeders in the country had input to the article. |

The girl I have kept back to show is of a finer structure and weighs right at 5 lbs.. But I have not decided if I would be able to breed her after she is done showing.. I went and watched a couple shows lately and I have noticed the larger females in our area are the ones picking up wins! |

Just a thought and my opinion, if you're truely unsure of whether you want or can to breed her, why would you continue showing her and wasting your time, not to mention the money.....Just my opinion. You are asking for judges approval of your breeding stock. On the other side of that, if you're practicing (and remember this just my assumption) with her in the ring...and she's finishable......great!!!! |

I better make up my mind she is 1 1/2 years old already! ;) |
I was just wondering what issue was that article in? |

Yep! Either way...she's getting up there where you have to make up your mind. I too like my bitches larger and more on the medium boned side. Yep! I agree, every judge has their own preference and unless a yorkie breeder judge....they really don't have a grasp on the whole yorkie standard thing. Some get hung up on ear sets, others...more on those in full coat and never looking past that....... |
