Is there a book that describes how to stack and get your dogs ready to start showing them? Does anyone have pics to post of puppies around 12-14 weeks that you looked at them and thought for sure they were show potential? I would like to see them please. Thanks in advance for answering any questions.
Barb | The one the to remember is that you show your dog to get approval of your breeding stock. In other words you want to show what you would like to had to your foundation. There are judges that will go for the smaller, but they are few and far between.
I start looking evaluating my puppies at 8 weeks old for personality......however, never really start making a good decision until 4-5 months. With the female I'm showing now I didn't make a decision that I would show her until she was about 5 1/2 months. She had everything I wanted, but the proof would be what she would do in the ring. She came out her 1st weekend pointing at 6 months of age and pointing again the following weekend.....that was my decision maker.
yes, you can purchase the Winning Edge by George Alston, he also has an online video that you can view, I think it's offered by Eukanuba or IAMS. But, I strongly suggest you go to a handlers class. |
