SHOW DOGS (Vaccinated for Bordatella) ???
 
Do you vaccinate your show dog for Bordatella (kennel cough)?
And if you do, how often?

Yes! Every 6 months. No problem with any reactions. I would rather be safe than sorry and have my dogs protected. This is what my vet recommends. You can't be sure that all show dogs are up to date on their shots or not carring anything. All I can do is to make sure my dogs are vaccinated.

Bugaboosmom did you happen to read the article I put on the forum regarding the outbreak in our area of kennel cough and also the parvo. I am so thankful Baby Blessing has all her shots but still with her being young it concerns me so we aren't taking her out and about now for awhile. I agree with your vet topknot. Patti

Yes, I give my Bordetella vaccine once to twice a year under the skin myself.

I have always used the drops in the nose. I agree protection is the key.;)

Yes, definitely. And not just dogs that are showing. The other's get a yearly booster around the time I get my flu shot. (that's how I remember it)

My goodness, this is totally O/T but I noticed my post said 4:41 am...It's actually 7:41 here! LOL and as soon as I posted this...it changed to the correct time. Wierd!

Even more wierd now it's back to the in-correct time :confused:
Oh well, not a big deal I just thought that was strange.

I'm not a breeder but my vet uses the drops in the nose. He won't have a dog boarded nor on an overnight hospital stay after a procedure without this.

Not a big difference between the two. Just one is more commonly used than the other because of the absorption/reaction rate. No biggie. Either way, I'd get your dog done, EVEN IF they aren't being shown or being borded. jm2c
It doesn't guarantee that they won't get it, but it increases their odds tremendously.
