This is really getting into my blood...... Just got back from the Dog Show in Marietta, GA. I was only able to attend Sat and Sun. Although, this was a 4 day show. And I had the best time. I was able to see Tina (topnot) show her little girl....that she has been depriving of the show ring for way to long......due to "air licking". LOL I tell you you would have thought that little Yorkie had been raised in the ring.....she did wonderfully. Then I was able to meet and speak with Ava with Tyava Yorkies......she is very very nice, and even in all the hustle, we spent some time discussing Yorkies..... There were awesome Yorkies in attendance this weekend.....Durrer's, Stratford, Shakespeare, many handled by professional handlers. So, I am beginning to know who is who, and who shows who's Yorkies....etc..... You know when I was given the option to "Shop at Lennox" vs go to the Dog Show...by my sweet hubby on Sunday......and I chose go to the Dog Show, you know I am ADDICTED!!!!!!!!!! Guess I am in it for the long haul.......like they say in TN....LOL :):) Shirley |
I'm glad you had a good time. I'm planning to go to one in November with another YT member. |
That's great! We have some shows coming us on December that I plan on going to. |
3 Attachment(s) It was sooooo nice to see Shirley - Saleswman there at the show. I just wish my girls were not having to show all by themselves in their classes - 6-9 months and Kee in 12 - 18 months. Kee is doing great not licking while in the ring. Here are a few pictures we took of my babies. :D Enjoy!! T. |
It was a very nice show. So many well known breeders and their beautiful babies! It is always so enjoyable to see nice yorkies up close. Ava had Sure Shot and Taget there. And of course Barb B., Kirsten, Diane/Luke were there handling. Atlanta seems to draw a lot of the best. We yorkies from CN, KY, OH, TX, FL, VA, SC, AL, MO, and even PR. Wow! :) T. |
Tina....you are way to modest...LOL Quote:
I am telling you Topknot's(Tina) Kee is to die for......I promise...she was everybit as nice as the others showing......so watch out world.......she is nipping at your heels.....L:):) |

Shirley, It is very addicting! Once you get started the more you want to see and before you know it you will be in the ring with your own showdog! |
Tina, What a nice girl! |
Sounds like you had a great time! Between the two choices, you chose the best one! |
How do these shows work? Are they in every state? Or is it just a few times a year in the same location??? I hope this isn't a dumb question.  |
Dog Shows Go to InfoDog.com there you will find a list of Dog Shows.....I also go to the AKC Website and look under "events". There are shows all over the country, so depending on where you live, you may be able to visit a show every weekend....LOL......just like I have....ha ha ha. good luck  |

When I looked for Yorkies online I knew I didn't want to adopt a puppy and fly it in. I prayed that I would find a good breeder in Puerto Rico. Just my luck a I went through the ytca website to find Parkside Yorkies and I will be going to see here tomorrow about one of her babies! I am really excited. So when you said " ... even Pr, WOW" I thought maybe Ms. Parkside was showing her yorkies too? kisses! from da Princess |
Good Luck... Quote:
Best Wishes!!! and let us know what happens... Shirley |

I was able to watch an AKC dog show when they did it in town and it was really quite fun to see yorkies at their best. . . and the silkiest hair ever. My Annika's cousin placed and so that got me thinking that maybe I too can show her off LOL even if she does not win :p Just for fun! |

I know I don't usually have the best of luck in life and I was trying my best to make sure I wasn't the one supporting puppy mills and brokers. I didn't want to be caught unaware with a puppy with severe health problems because I chose to purchase a pet from the pet store. I rather have peace of mind in knowing that my Yorkie has had someone looking out for his best interests since day one. Anyway I am so glad you were able to attend that show in GA. It's always great to go to that kind of thing, but even better to be able to cheer a friend on. |
Tiger's Mom - KeeKee with the bow is only 17 months old and Gigi is only just 6 months. In Open class - is where you get the points, most of the time. Those dogs are most often 3 and 4 years old, especially at a bigger show (18 + yorkies count). They will be going off later with a handler when they are ready. Easy, my oldest girl 22 months old, will go off first in Jan. with our handler. Parkside Yorkies - are very very very nice. Marie Kaufman Cardona is the owner of this line and they are very thought after. They have a real regal appearance and excellent quality. Good luck Princesa getting a yorkie from her. You will be very fortunate. It was Parkside's Just Kidding that was showing in the Open Dogs class. My male Pepe has Parkside in his line: Pete Sake and Safari (both champions). T. |
Parkside's Just Kidding took a 2nd on Sat. and a !st and a Reserve on Sunday. Pretty good!! There were a lot of dogs to compete with at this show! T. |

Anyway my son and I were watching a dog show in TV a few weeks ago. We both are clueless as to how they judge especially when its i guess a "Best in \Show" title. I am assuming that that is where there are all kinds of breeds showing. I mean how in the heck would you pick a the best out of a group of dogs that are so diverse. I guess at the same time, I am one of those people who doesnt get the Ms. Universe pagent when the have all those beautiful women representing all the countries in the world, and the judges have to pic one. WHEW! |
Omg..... I am dying to see what she has available......could never find her website...but her dogs were awesome in Atlanta. Let us know.....:):) |
