I want to jump on Gigabite's bandwagon and be a fan, too!!! She looks like she thinks she is a champion already. And if she is so sure of herself, what judge is going to disagree? She is lovely. (and I love the name!) |
She looks very nice so far, keep your fingers crossed , that she stays together. Cant wait to see her grow up. Personality can go a long way!!! Debbie Ray Sum Toi Yorkies www.sumtoiyorkies.com |
You are so lucky! She's gorgeous! I'm hoping to get a show prospect from her soon. |
princesspippi - have you shown before? Have you already made arrangements to get one from Glenda or waiting for one to be born? Out of which sire and dam? We just love "Gigi" (this is what we call her now - short for Gigabite). She is so loving - woke up to kisses on the nose from her. She is so cuddly too. And when she walks - she just strutts her stuff! She is also playing very well - joins right in with the others. It is so cute to watch. Best of luck with your new baby. I am sure you will be very pleased. :p I know we will have to wait with her to see if she keeps it altogether - hopefully she will. T. |
Explanation about color What a cute puppy.....nice body..... One question......to all the show people.......can someone explain about the color breaking on the head and at what age? Seems I remember reading something about the color on the head and back....and how it relates to a show coat....color wise..... Can this exclude you from the ring...based on how the color on the coat looks??? Learning..... |
I haven't shown before, but Glenda lives fairly close to me, and she said she would help mentor me. She's very nice! I've been talking with her for a while. I've also talked some with Dottie Naegele with Northshire Yorkshire Terriers, and she was very nice as well. I'm trying to get a few things out of the way so I can devote the amount of time to showing that it's going to take. Anyway, I'm excited for you. Hopefully it will all work out. She's beautiful. |
Thank you all so much. I am very happy and she is just so sweet and knows it - just like I like them! :D Princesspippi - That is great that you have two of the best mentors to help you. Listen and learn all you can. I was lucky like you when I first started ages ago and it made a lot of difference. You tend not to make the big mistakes. Also be sure to also have your own opinions as you learn. Saleswman - she is breaking the silver first and then will come through with her gold. I think that her gold may be a little lighter but good for me since I need a balance with the others I have being darker. I would rather have great bone structure, soundness, and excellent health thank the perfect color. The Book of the Yorkshire Terrier by Joan McDonald Brearley (which includes me) states it best on page 60 - " Color is important, but not to the exclusive if all else or the breed will suffer for it. Color is something to strive for, and should perhaps be clarified in our standard." Also check out "The Complete Yorkshire Terrier" by Gordan and Bennett (page 210) "A puppy of around 4 months, that has changed the color on its head from black to gray to a very pale sooty color, will as an adult enrich all the tan arears to a clear golden tan. The blue will follow the correct manner of transition from black to blue starting to do so around 6 months. The coat texture will be the correct silky type." "A puppy whose tan has been cleared of all the intermingled black or sooty hairs by age 4 months, and whose texture is fine and silky, will as an adult have correct colors. The tan of this puppy will probably enrich to a darker shade as an adult." This is why it is so hard for the novice because yorkshire terriers go through such transformation. And there are so many different ways pups can change. T. |
Great help... Thanks so much for your reponse on the puppy color.....and the info regarding reading material. I looked at your website and I was very surprised......because I have viewed your yorkies....from afar.....Tennessee....even before I found YT. Now, I realize who you are...and that I was impressed with you even before I have read your postings here. Thanks again! You are just the Yorkie person I'd envisioned. I really appreciate you. Thank you Shirley, that is so sweet for you to say. I am glad I made a good impression. I love my yorkies and the yorkie breed so very much and anything I can do to help others with their yorkies - I am there. By helping others - our standard becomes better and stronger! T. |

She's very pretty! I wish you the best with her. I have had the pleasure of handling a Tsa-La-Gi girl a few times in the ring. They are beautiful yorkies. I have personally seen three of them and they are really nice. |
