Fun Matches In Texas? About 20 years ago, I remember taking my Sheltie to an AKC fun match in Dallas. Do they ever have anything like that for Yorkies? I remember it was a lot of fun meeting people and seeing the all the beautiful dogs. |

Honestly, I'm kind of scared to take Sadie to a park because they have to be off leash & she runs from me, so I'm terrified of letting her off leash. But I have heard that any of the Petsmarts will allow you to use their training area (when they're not having a class, of course) for free and that way the babies can play & the mommies have somewhere to sit. And since there are a bunch of stores in the area, we can probably find one that is central for everyone that wants to come. If we can only find a park, I'll be willing to try it, but am still scared of it. |
There are several dog parks in the area that are a lot of fun...they have a separated area for the small dogs to play and it all fenced in so they can't run off anywhere!! We have taken our girls to the one in Fort Worth several times and just had a complete blast.... |
Off lead in a park?:eek: I didn't know that...there's no way I'd let Ziggy run loose. He is super fast! The pet store sounds good. We have Petco and Petsmart in Denton. I think it would be great to meet up. I'd be happy to call and ask them about it if you all would like to meet in Denton. A Friday, Saturday, or Sunday would work for me. About the fun match...I remember it was like a regular dog show with real judges. It was just for dogs/puppies to get used to showing. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. |
Let's pick a day & time & see who all wants to come & then try to pick a central location for those that want to come. Sound good? I am also a member of the meetup.com yorkie board & there are quite a few members there too who might want to come. The only problem there is that the person that was the "leader" just quit...probably because they didn't want to pay the $20 fee. So if some of us split that, we'd probably be able to get more people to come! I know what you mean about being fast!!! Sadie is too. Even when she wants to be picked up, she backs away from me when I bend over to get her. I know know why she thinks it's so fun to run! I don't chase her to try to encourage it, but she still does it.:aimeeyork |
Any time on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday would be good for me...except for the father's day weekend. I like the pet store idea because we can also go in there with our babies. I'd like to find some of those belly bands for Ziggy...he still occasionally has accidents. |

Yes, that's right...we can go in there and cool off. I imagine it will be hot whatever day we decide on. I would like to suggest the 23rd or 24th of June at Petsmart or Petco in Denton. That will give us more time to hopefully get some others interested. Karen |
Those dates sound fine, but I still think we should see who all wants to come and then pick a central location. Denton might be too far away for some. I want everyone who is interested to be able to. Maybe Lewisville would be a better choice. I don't know. We can wait a week or so & then decide on location. |
