For those who show Question I had purchased a "show quality" dog outside of USA. (please don't bash why not buy in USA) CH lineage all the way through the pedigree. She is 7 months old. I was told in USA you cannot show a Yorkie with tail not docked, is this true? |
See "Judging the Yorkshire Terrier by Dr. E. Carolyn Hensley." In particular, note the statement, "Do not forget that under FCI rules a Yorkie tail is no longer docked; however, there has been no statement made as to how the natural tail should be carried. Under AKC governance, a judge has the full option of dismissing or of judging a dog with a natural tail and will be supported." Hope this helps. --KatysMom |
You can show an undocked tail, however it is still in US up to judges discretion to judge or not. |
Thank you :) |
Did you buy from England? Here docking has been illegal now for over fifteen years The Animal Welfare Act 2006 banned tail docking in England and Wales other than for medical reasons and with exemptions for certain types of working dog. |
