In January of this year shortly after Miranda turned a year old I had her Patellas done, both knees came back a grade 0, then last month I had her eyes tested and they both came back normal. I also had her microchipped. So a few weeks ago I sent in her paperwork and Miranda now has a chic number. She does have a few more heallth clearances to go through before she is bred but I am just so happy that the ones she already has are so great. And she has matured very nicely.

Very happy to hear that! I know you must be pleased! I am very partial to breeders who do the health screenings!


I am getting Dara's eyes done in November and the cardiac evaluation in November. So we shall see how they turn out. Jan I hope to do thyroid and then the long wait for Hips Elbows .....


I do know that wait for test results!

You know I am, we have too many issues with our breed and I feel that the healthier the dog the better the chances of having healthy pups. I need to have her cardiac done and am checking the shows I am looking into for health clinics. She is also having a CBC and BAT's done a few days before she gets her dental done. She has one retained canine.

Cardiac on OFFA the DNA one with the echo - at Salisbury it is $210 the basic screening test is $40.


Which one are you going to go with? I am leaning towards the $210 as that is a great price and while BRT's are not known for heart problems - I'd rather do more than less. Plus she had a soft heart murmur at 7wks which disappeared by 9 wks - still would like the specialist to hear and look at her heart.

Don't forget about UKC shows they also could have health clinics running - and they usually have a large show in Kalamazoo if that is near to you.

How far away are you from London Ontario? They often have pretty big shows, in fact there is a health clinic running this weekend, everything is probably booked now. I am going up for the day on Sunday.

I'm in Michigan not to far from the border. But I think they may do a health clinic in Lansing with the show there. I may do the lesser expensive one first then do the other at a later time.

Good job :) Brighton just got her CHIC number back too for her eyes and patellas. Have to do Chanel next time a CERF clinic comes up

I love it when breeders breed to a standard and also do health testing. Bravo! She's a beauty!

Thank you Lisa, I know as a Breeder there are circumstances beyond our control, however we have a responsibility to this breed to do what is in our control and that is to do the testing to try to produce healthier pups.
