Can you help me recognise a good stop? 1 Attachment(s) ***********GREENHORN ALERT!!!********* hee hee. Okay Ive attached this picture of a purely pet quality yorkie head. I was told the the ears are set okay but way to big and to rounded. You all agree? Okay I get this, I can see it., and it helps me to recognise good ears. Now I was also told the dog had a bad stop..........HELP!!..... I thought once I looked at the picture and then compared it to show yorkie pics with a good stop Id understand.......BUT I DONT!! There is suppose to be a break? Can some of you look at the picture and try to explain ? Whats missing? What part of the nose or head Im suppose to be looking at, and find the missing link......LOL. Is there a lump, bump, hump that magically tells you? I would really appreciate your input, its driving me a bit crazy. |
the stop is where the nose meets with the head below the eyes. Can you post a side photo (profile)? |
Oh Shucks I cant post a different pic of the dog because they were here only for a visit and this is the only pic I took. Is it to hard to tell from a head on? |
1 Attachment(s) Does this picture help? This is my daughters pet 5 month old Hickory. She has a pretty pointy nose and big ears. I just took a pic of her, maybe you can tell explain something from this one on the stop? Thanks and Thanks! P.S. Excuse Hickorys eye buggers...lol |
Hi ......is the shape suppose to be more L shaped (more up and down angle at the forehead?) and the nose shorter? .........Does anyone have a yorkie with a good stop with a side view? My daughters yorkie Im sure is pet quality so pointing out the fault in her nose or stop isnt gonna hurt any feelings here!! :) |
.........or did I pick a dog to picture that has a good stop??? She has pet qualities like the a black nose but rim of eyes not black, bigger ears.....but as far as the stop it could be good as far as I know. ?????????? |

This is one of the things a judge is looking for when they examine the dog with their hands. |
Should the nose bone be completely straight across? No slanting whatsoever? Thanks :) |
Thank you thank you thank you! Okay I got it, I think.......lol ...........Like a wall, the less slant the better the stop. When the nose meets the head, it should be straight up and down like the floor meeting a wall (best way I know how to describe it!...lol) .......Is this right?...............like this L not like this _/ |
