Question about AKC for Conformation Breeders Does the AKC actually do anything, if you file a complaint against an AKC Conformation breeder, that sells a puppy with a congenital health issue, and then, refuses to honor the contract? And also, misrepresents the puppy, by sending a picture of a beautiful female in full show coat, states in an e-mail that she has attached a picture of mom? |
To answer your question, NO, AKC will do nothing! Absolutely nothing. The only time they will do anything is if the DNA parentage doesn't match period. And then they deem them conditional most of the time. |

For 30 years, I have only gotten my Yorkies from wonderful AKC Show breeders. Not one of my 3 girls, had the slightest health problems, until they reached their late senior years. |

I contacted AKC about Judy Marksbury and Mawell's Congenital Lacrimal Gland Aplasia, and the yeast infection in his ears, and the Giarida, and guess what? They are most definitely want me to file a claim against her with AKC. They gave me a person to contact, and they want all the information on this Show breeder and all of Maxwell's medical records. So, maybe when it is the President of a Yorkshire Terrier Club, selling sick dogs, they care. Ohio Valley Yorkshire Terrier Club Of Kentucky |
They will take your complaint seriously. THey will launch an investigation, based on your documentation, which should include all your emails etc. And most especially the scathing email she sent to you..... If you documented manually the dates of your phone calls with the breeder and did a brief synopsis of what was told verbally to you, that will also become part of the record. I do think it is worth your time. But perhaps now that you know this breeder has joined this forum, she might be more interested in coming to an arrangement that is more agreeable to you. So in closing, you need to determine what is the best outcome you want. |

My husband, actually sat with me, while I spoke on the phone with the breeder, and he could hear what she was saying to me. The only outcome from the breeder I would want, is for her to step up and take responsibility for this precious little guys medical bills. She had offered us both the little boy, and the little female-she reduced the price on the female if we took both. (Funny, she offered her to my friend for that same "lowered" price. But, I explained to her, that as much as I would love to have both-my medical bills are very high, and are going to get a lot higher, because I have surgery after the 1st of the year. I am under the care of my DO, who is my PCP, and 6 specialists. Thank you, Gemy. |
