Where do you go to find Yorkie shows? I looked on the AKC site, maybe I'm doing it wrong or seeking what's not there. I'm looking for shows with Yorkies in the Northern CA area or even Southern Oregon. Closest shows I can find are in Santa Rosa, but most seem specific to large breeds only. We hace the Lost Coast Kennel Club show that was in Ferndale CA a few months ago, but it was different while it included purebreeds, no Yorkies and it was also inclusive of mixed breeds handled by their owners...not what I would think of as an official show to meet breeders, or specifically a Yorkie breeder. I know I won't find anything in the Arcata/Eureka area but even traveling 6 hours south to Santa Rosa is seeming in vain to see Yorkies atm. Where do I find shows for Yorkies? |

you can find AKC shows here, either by state or callender, hope this helps. InfoDog AKC Dog Show Information - Main Menu this one also, but i prefer infodog Jack Onofrio Dog Shows, LLC |
Here is a link to a website that shows most of the dog show superintendents. I think a lot of the shows in California use Jack Bradshaw. http://www.mountainwestdogfanciers.c...intendants.pdf I think Onofrio does shows mainly in the mid section of the U.S. |
Thanks I'm checking out the links! |
Also check out ytca.org and their roving specialty shows held all over the USA, you might get lucky and one will be close enough to go to. Don't forget about Eukanuba held I think Dec but it is in Fla. Maybe an early Xmas gift from hubby to you. NYC in Feb always has a large entry too. :D |
Also, some information for those of you who are not familiar with how the show sites work: To find information about an upcoming show and to enter a show you go to the show you are interested in then click on Premium List. This will show you the date, location and the judges for the show. There should be a link also if you want to enter the show. The entries usually close about 2 1/2 weeks prior to the show. A few days after a show has closed you can click on the show you are interested in, then click on Breed Counts to see how many dogs are entered. About a week before the show you can click on the show you are interested in, then click on judging schedule to see what times the different breeds will show and what ring they will be in. Usually several days to a week after the show the superintendent will post the results of the show. Each superintendents website layout is different so sometimes it takes a little searching around for the information you are looking for. |
Well personally I'm constraned atm for getting nire rhan a couple hours of time to myself with nursing my son, he's 17a months old and I have a Dr. apoitment in a week to see if we have an unexpected new arrival on its way. Almost very unusual but my son that turned 8 in August had never stayed the night away from me, ge and my 13 year old daughter are the ones interested in seeing dog shows. Of course I'm elated my kids are interested as I am obviously very interested in attending. I'd have to plan a trip witg a sitter for baby I know hed not be a good attendee... Would it ve taboo to bring an 8 & 13I year old? They're very well behaved and attend adult type performances so they know how to be composed quite and look only with their eyes and not hands |
The shows vary. But the bigger ones are pretty fun. There other thing to look at = vendors. But any will be fun if never been. Kids will be fine |
My kids go to the local show with me and they look forward to it every year because they say they have the best smoothies there! But other than the smoothies, they get bored with it. I guess it depends on how much one enjoys the dogs.... |

Large shows often have lots of great vendors; I did I think mentioned the shopping :-) You can get lots of stuff not available in plain old regular dog stores. How far away are you from Eugene Oregon? I seem to recall a large show there round Sept(ish) time frame. It is so beautiful there, well worth the drive along the coast!. Ohhh I'm excited for you. I'm thinking of flying out to Tucson this November to attend our BRT Nationals; most especially if the breeder from Russia I want to purchase from will be attending. |
I'm only about 6 hours from Eugene. So glad kids are welcomed. We have portable chairs on the ready in my trunk at all tines since the kids do so many sports. Maybe bringing things like tablets will aid the kids, I swear my daughter has echolocation abilities as much as sghe walks and texts etc & avoids tripping. I so much as glance at my phone abd a wall walks right into me! |
