Here are 2 photos from the PA Specialties last month. Coco did great- she was the senior sweeps winner on the second day and she won 2 of her 4 , 12 to 15 months bitch classes and took a RWB to a beautiful adult Durrer bitch

I do have a question though..in one of those pictures she has 'thingies' (I don't know what they are but I assume they are for her hair) all over her body. How often are those in her hair and are they uncomfortable for her? What are they? Can she still run and play and be a dog with those in her hair?

I'm not insinuating anything at all, I know show dogs have to go through more than what a 'pet quality' dog would, but I'm just curious. =] I have been to only 3 dog shows and I really don't know anything about preparations that the dogs have to go through to "get their pretty on". =)

They are called wraps! And yes they can do everything in them. I have some old videos of Razzle swimming and dock jumping with his wraps and wrapping coat on.

Ahh..wraps. Thank you, Gemy! :) Bella is a mix, and even though she's my little "show girl" she's not a show dog (clearly). I don't know anything about shows, really. I just go to them and oooooh! and aahhh! and such. lol Thanks for the info.:D

Carl, you know how I feel about Coco, she is amazing, congrats on the wins in PA. She keeps getting more and more gorgeous as time goes on. Keep up the good work, and go get more wins.

I loved looking at the pictures of Coco and she is sure a show girl, you have done an amazing job with her. I know it is not uncommon in the show world to keep your dog with the handler but it would break my heart to be separated from such a lovely little girl like Coco. I imagine you have both grown quite attached to either other, what will happen when she obtains all her points, will she go back to her owner.

Thank-you so much for your kind words. Coco has already completed her Canadian Championship and we haven't earned any U.S. points yet , so she will be with us for a while yet. Her breeder/Mommy has many other beautiful yorkies that she is busy with - I am a very lucky guy to have her, she is a very promising young lady.

I will be showing Coco as a special this fall and next year, and hopefully if she does really well the year after that. She is so young still .I'm sure it will be hard to let her go, but there will be another "up and coming star" in the waiting and it will be Coco's time to do her next job- be a Mommy. I'm sure she will have beautiful puppies- maybe some future starts themselves :p

I too handle a show dog for his owner, it is very hard for the owners, but we understand one day they will go home to their real moms. We love them and take the best care of them while they are in our lives. That love, for me never leaves my heart.

You do get attached and it is hard to let them go, but you go into it knowing that one day you will have to. The little boy I'm showing for his breeder will definitely be hard to let go one day.

It takes a special person with a good heart to do what we are doing. You sound like me one day, my heart will have a big empty space, but knowing he is back home with his family, is enough for me to say, I was the lucky one to get to have him until it is time to go back home.

I just saw your thread and that lovely girl. She is gorgeous!!! I'll bet this one is a joy to work with. Congrats on her wins and good luck in this country with her. Keep us updated as she goes when you can.

Thanks Jeanie, I think 2013 will be a fun year, with hopefully a few more U.S. shows

I love Coco, in wraps, I love Coco in the ring, I just plain love her. She represents what a yorkie show dog should be. :)
