Ok i wondering if there are any handlers in louisville, ky .
should i go with one?

You may want to do some research on handlers, before you put your dog in there care. Like everything else, there are good ones & bad ones.

Breaking into the show world can be just that heartbreaking and pocket breaking come to the Lexington show meet some of the exhibitors and see how things are done per say.
You and I have talked back and forth for several years the problem is you are wanting a girl first and very few part with a show girl they are very hard to come by when you are first trying to break into showing you must win the trust of a good breeder and exibitor as many do not trust anymore and the show contracts , well that is another story on its own .
Many feel you are looking for just a breeding girl and not really a show girl that is why most will put you in a contract with a show dog.and will not let you get a girl on the first go round . there are many out there that will try and sell a show puppy at 12 weeks :( knowing things can go south with a puppy as an adult

You need to come meet the people putting there hearts into this they will not think you are serious until you are seen at the shows and trying to learn as much as you can sad as that may seem .
The problem I see is there is a lot of dogs that should never be shown or sold for show so which ever way you go be careful there is a lot of wolfs out there willing to take your money and leave you feeling jilted now days getting a good dog is a long hard process.

I feel you need to step into the ring yourself before you go with a handler
most handlers can finish anything worthy or not but when you show yourself that is a glory you and your dog share and it gives you an inside view on how things are done what kind of dog you want experience is the best knowledge you can get .
Most handlers are very expensive as this is how they make there living . There are very few Ukc shows in ky anymore and very few will sell a show dog to be shown in ukc and it is a owners only show no handlers allowed in ukc

Noticed in your past posts that you have parti and parti carriers. Parti's can't be shown in UKC or AKC events. Not sure if you're looking for a handler for a parti dog. Parti's do have venues they can be shown in, however, I don't know what they are. That being said, handling a parti would not being lucrative for a professional handler since handling is their bread and butter.

Handlers can be expensive, but with the price of travel these days, it can sometimes cost less, depending on your area. Although it is more rewarding to finish a dog yourself, people do have various reasons that make it impossible but I can only think of a couple I would EVER send one of my dogs with.
You are absolutely right, there is SO much to be learned before anyone even considers trying to purchase a show prospect or exhibiting. Long process but worth the effort if one is sincere.

Yes there are circumstances that work or not work for everyone with needing a handler
the other problem i see is Mary no punt intended you have partis and parti carrerrs and to get someone to sell you a show dog is going to be near inpossible because they do not want there traditionals bred into a parti
also you cannot show parti or parti carrerrs in ukc
ukc pretty much follows the akc standard

Unilateral or bilateral cryptorchid. Viciousness or extreme shyness. Any solid color, or any combination of colors (such as, but not limited to, chocolate and tan or tri-color) other than those specifically described in the standard. Any white marking other than a small spot on the chest, no more than one inch in diameter. Any change in coat color by artificial means. Albinism.

I am familiar with the AKC shows. If you have parti's you may want to look into the IABCA. I believe they allow parti colored entries. Good Luck to you.

No Mam i'm not a parti breeder nor do i have own any parti yorkies. i had a nice female and bred her to a nice male and had a parti out of it. realizing that it was not what i wanted and it was not to the standard . i did not sale those pups for fear someone will breed them so i had them fixed and gave it to my sisters. my female is 6 years old now and in those 6 years she has only had 1 litter. i have no intention to breed just to breed. i do not own any other dogs and i have not gotten a show dog yet. i hope some is willing to mentor , teach and educate me. on whats to be expected.. :(

see no where in her pedigree had any indications she was a carrier. the colors where blk & gold and Blue and Gold. AKC dNa verified. I never sold them
that's why I ended up giving the 2 pups away to my sisters after they were fixed.

for those of you who think I'm a parti-breeder .I would like to apologize for that assumption.I had a nice akc female that I bred to nice male and had a parti pup from it. since then I realize this is not the way I would like to go. my female is 6yrs old and in those 6 years only had 1 litter and of that litter 2 pups ( I only own 1 dog and that's the mother). I would like to do things differently and I'm unsure on how to go about it and what I should do. I want to start off with showing and if I breed I want to breed to better the breed and to the standard and not to breed just to breed. I don't have a show dog yet but looking into showing I would like to show a dog that is worthy of competing. I need advise from respected breeders and exhibitor on how I should get started im not sure on how to go about it. looking for a respected and reputural breeder that is willing to mentor in my area who is willing to teach me and take me under their wings. I didn't sell that parti pup or it's sibling I gave them both to each of my older sisters because I felt it was not correct and to the standard.
