show prep. for yorkies Ive shown a different breed of dog, kinda easy compared to a yorkie. If one hires a handler, how is the dog prepared. What I mean is when you meet the handler at the show, must the dog be totaly groomed or does the handler do this. What I mean is top knot, brushing, starightening, etc. Thank You.... |

I've done it all those ways. For me I like to wash and blowdry my own dog, I know his coat, and what products to use for the ultimate sheen and gloss of the coat, as well I can do last minute paw trim, coat trim. I've also let the handler do from start to finish and with at least one handler the results were superb. |
I think also that it depends on the handler, some handlers are awesome at show preparation....to me this is so important when presenting a yorkie. I f the handler you choose is an excellent handler but isn't the best groomer and you feel that you can prepare him better- then opt for that. If you hire Kirsten McGregor get her to do the grooming for you, she is in my opinion the best at preparing a yorkie for the show ring, 24 carats even produced a DVD of her doing just that. |
