What Breed Is My Yorkie Mixed With? 3 Attachment(s) I have a lovable little gal named Tina who is 8 months. Yesterday, I was told by a vendor that she is a Silky Terrier. I have known since I got her that she is a bit long and slightly tall to be a yorkie. My question is, what is she mixed with? It's hard for me to compare her with a million other Yorkie's/Silky dogs in google. btw, he shoulder to tail length is 11 inches.. and her height (from shoulder to feet is 9 inches Any Comments or Feedback will be greatly appreciated! |
I couldn't tell you if she is a mix. I can say she is so adorable. |
she looks all yorkie to me!! yorkies can come in all shapes and sizes. she is just such a cutie!!! |
Looks like a Yorkie...but one member said the vet did DNA and it was about $60...interesting to find out all the breeds it was mixed with....but it looked mixed... |
She looks all Yorkie to me. Size means nothing when trying to determine if a dog is a Silky or a Yorkie. Just like people come in a range of sizes, so do purebred dogs. There are Yorkies that are smaller than average, and also larger than the 7 lbs in the breed standard. The standard just sets out the traits of the ideal Yorkie, but no Yorkie will meet the standard perfectly, some will be much closer to the standard than others. The stipulation of "7 lbs and under" wouldn't be necessary if they were all under 7 lbs. Just like any other part of the written standard (coloring, temperament, proportions, etc.), there will be Yorkies that don't meet the weight standard and be larger than 7 lbs. |
Looks more Yorkie to me, too. I guess could be half Yorkie and half Silky as I recall Silkies seem to have proportionately larger ears but this baby of yours is absolutely adorable. I LOVE the ears in the center picture. Tina is a cutie! Such a sweet little face. |
Tina looks all Yorkie to me too(she favors Jack too). She is such a cutie. I love her shirt in picture #3 |

This pup is all yorkie. |
I agree that yorkies come in all sizes.....and so do silkies! I currently have a 8 month silky - purebred from nationally ranked sire/dam - that is only 4 1/2 pounds. My silkies are all tri-colored......with the topnot area being the third color - lighter than the muzzle. (And yes, silkies tend to me more rectangle and yorkies more square.....but like size, that can vary also). I too would agree that your pup looks more yorkie! |

I have had a couple of people see my Riley and say... awwww he is a Silky. Meaning he has a silky coat..... She is Adorable!! :) |
Looks like a full Yorkie to me. |
Looks all Yorkie to me. |
omg, that face of her's is to die for. She is darling. Looks like a little yorkie pup to me. So many people can make comments on our precious yorkie's. Mostly they are untrue. When you got her, was the breeder telling you she was 100% yorkie? I think she is a cutie no matter what. |
Oh she is a little doll. She looks like a Yorkie to me. She's a sweetheart. |
She looks like a sweet adorable precious little Yorkie girl to me:D |
