Question About Head Coloring 3 Attachment(s) For the yorkies, it seems like a lot of them have more then just tan on their faces, Rizzo for instance has silver mixed in with the gold on his face (coloring alone he isn't standard, oh well he is pet only) but I was wondering if color other than tan on their faces was considered a fault? I looked at the standard on the AKC website, but I didn't find it very clear. Then I looked at the photos they have and all of those yorkies are either pups or have the full tan face. Just a random question, not getting into showing anytime soon (if ever it seems very complicated), but I'd like to know for sure what the breed standard says about it. :) (all pictures are from American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier Photos) |
His coloring is the result of his age. What appears as silver now will eventually gold out. |
Oh, so all yorkies wind up with the solid colored face? Just takes time? That's neat, wonder how long it'll take for his tail to stop being black? lol, really considering calling him dipstick :D Thanks for the info though. |

my yorkies are all different colors in someway. One is a cinnamon tan color and almost black/gray. one is tan and very siver. one is tan and gray. |
Beamer was 2 in July. I have noticed later he is getting more gold on his head and face. And it is a rich looking gold. I had thought that by 2 years old he would be the color he is going to be, I hadn't realized he could still change. |
