Houston Yorkie Specialty and Toy show.
 
How many are planning on attending the Yorkshire Terrier Club of Greater Houston Specialty on August 27 and August 28? I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful Yorkies. The breed counts are in.

YTCGH specialty:
Fri. 15-19-3-1
Sat. 16-19-3-0

Toy show on Sat. and Sun.
Sat. 12-13-3-1
Sun. 12-10-2-0


For those of you that have never been to a dog show this is a great one to attend if you live in the Houston area. There will be many beautiful yorkies. The show times will not be available until next week so I will post the location and times when they are available.

Where is it being held?? Do you know if our babies can go with us? Some shows only allow dogs that are actually in the show.

The show will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 12801 Northwest Freeway, Houston, TX. I will post the link to the judging schedule once it is posted. It will have directions on it.

Some people do bring dogs that are not entered but it is not really recommended. It is much easier to watch the show if you are not having to hold your dog the whole time. The show is inside the hotel and the dogs are shown on carpet. I hope you can make it.

I'm there with bells on!!! I hear a very nice yorkie is coming in but I'm not gonna say and let it be a surprise to those who show up to see this gorgeous yorkie!!! My competition but a lovely, lovely yorkie!!!

I can't wait. I hope Drea can finish that weekend. Can you tell us if the nice yorkie is a special or a class dog/bitch?

I saw that Stringer's Somethings Gotta Give got a Best In Show last weekend. It was nice to see a yorkie get the top award for a change.

The nice yorkie is a male special and he's gorgeous so if Radar loses to him I won't mind LOL...but of course I would love to win but oh man he's a nice boy!!!

I hope Drea can finish too that will be our goal! I'm sure some very nice yorkies are coming in so we shall see :)

I went last year just to view. It was about a week after I lost my previous Yorkie, and the longing to be around Yorkies was so strong that even though I was hurting, I just couldn't resist. It was like a soothing glass of wine. Very therapeutic. It's a wonderful opportunity to see a beautiful group of dogs. I just wish I understood more about what is taking place, they all look exquisite to me.

If you come again look me up and I'll try and help you understand what's taking place LOL...or at least hook you up with someone sitting ringside that is just watching to explain what is going on :)

Sorry you lost your baby last year. I hope you can make the show this year. What is really helpful at the show is if you can buy a show catalog. The last two years the show catalogs have sold out before I got to the show. I hope I can get one this year. The show catalog will show the name of each dog entered in each class, the dog's date of birth, the dog's sire and dam, the name of the owner and name of the breeder so it is easier to follow what class is being judged. Each exhibitor has a arm band so that makes it easier for spectators that have catalogs to know who's who.

I'll be at the Delaware Valley Specialty in PA that weekend. Sounds like it will be a yorkie weekend for sure.

Good counts. NOw for those folks who are not so adept at reading counts here is the breakdown take Friday for example

Friday 15-19-3-1 First count is Male class dogs at 15 : a 5pt Major for sure. Second count is Female class dogs at 19 another 5pt Major Then you have your specials 3 Males and 1 Female

Again for the newbies to the show world. You need to have 2 Major wins to championship your dog. In total you need 15 pts So if you have a very special class dog it is possible to finish this dog in one wkend.

This would be an excellent show to go watch, see the beauty's, meet the breeders. Too bad for me it is so far away and I'll be in Kentucky then:(
