I was reading this post from another thread and thought it would be appropriate to cross post here since it is about show supplies and very helpful (all of your advice usually is)... Reading your post, I had to smile... I just started showing, but I have started doing the same thing. Start the laundry as soon as I get home and repack everything in it's own corner so it's ready to go. I still need to aquire enough supplies to have separate stay at home grooming area brushes, scissors, etc and "show/go" things, it just seems I have favorites of certain things. The lists are a great idea though! Last weekend, I almost forgot my garment bag/show clothes. I have 4 grown sons, close in age. I think travelling and keeping them "together" as toddlers prepared me well for the show ring - it seems to be about organization and preparedness - emphasis on the "PRE"! LOL Do you pack in those big plastic boxes? I have seen some people do this... |

[QUOTE=Mardelin;3076330]Tina, I was so spoiled in Texas with air conditioned show sites, although there are a few that have the grooming area in the barn areas.....But, the weather in California isn't as hot.....so, most show sites are outside. Oh it can get very hot here in S. California and all the shows are outside--Claremont, San Diego, Turlock, Los Angeles. We generally don't do any shows from May to September because it can be over 100 degrees. The lists are great. When we fly to a specialty, there usually is a walmart or kmart nearby where you can buy a wooden snacktable to use for grooming. I always donate the snacktable to the host club for next time. |
Mardelin- I noticed that you brought up a pop up tent for shade. I am needing a new one. I've been through 2 of the cheaper flimsy ones. Do you or any other readers know where I can get a durable one, or anything about the ez up brand? Thanks. |

We have had an RV for this last year and the only way to go. It has taken us this year to work the bugs out on how everything works, but so nice. You have everything with you and it feels like home and you are just a few feet away for ringside. You can also check out the rings the night before or the morning of before everything happens. You are warm in winter and cool in summer. We walk out to the ring about 20 or 15 mins. before ring time. It is perfect! I do have to say - we will never do dry camping again. Only full hook up for us in the future. *We use to use those nice pop up tents or canopies when we use to do the craft festivals. They are nice and last a long tim, but be careful if it is a windy day! |

Oh gosh I'd love an RV, but hubby says he can't drive one:( And I don't know if I can. Did you take yours out for a test drive to see if you could manage it? We usually stay in motels, and have the canopy, generator, grooming tables et al set up at show site. |

I love the RV. It works out just a little cheaper than a hotel, since you do not have to eat out. The cost is anywhere from 10.00 a night to 30.00 a night depending on show and you have everything with you. It takes just a few minutes to set up and then you are done. We have a 28 footer with shower/tub for bathing the dogs in and full set up. AC too!!! It is great! The last time we stayed in a hotel, before the RV, there was a party in the room next to us and then they also decided to carry the party outside of our door and window. When we complained at 2AM to the front desk - they came down to quiet the party and told them we were the ones that complained, so the party people started to bang on our door. That was it for me. We went out and got an RV a few weeks later. And also I know my sheets and blankets are clean! At the show RV parks you meet a lot of nice people too. Yes, RV is the the only way to go. |
