I said uneducated pet homes as an example of people that transport dogs without much understanding of safety. I'm not back peddling on it. IMO a show home should be well educated on transportation. I can't imagine a toy, especially a puppy being in a car seat on a freeway. JMHO

Are you serious? This is the reason people PM and email but refuse to post. I didn't attack you. I tried to think of a word to use to describe a situation. It was not what I meant, nor was it anything sinful, much less applicable to you, Carol or many others.

After I explained it. HERE I AM HAVING TO EXPLAIN MYSELF FURTHER. I said that I've never known anyone that shows to use car seats to transport to shows. HOWEVER MAYBE THERE IS MORE OF IT, I'M NOT AWARE OF BECAUSE I DON'T SEE WHAT EVERYONE DRIVES DOGS IN TO SHOWS. In addition, the comment about being uneducated wasn't an open ended statement as I clarified. I thought that cleared up when I said, uneducated about the safety.

After that I commented about your typo saying it was cute. It's the first one I've seen of yours and the word is a funny one to mistype. It was/is cute.

Essentially, email is without intonation. We can make our point without having to spend hours to type something. This shouldn't be interrogation because someone wants to pick on another person. Many people don't post now because of this behavior. I've said often that my fingers don't type like I think. It takes me a long time to type. Please don't do this. It's a waste of time.

I've ALWAYS treated you with respect and I expect the same. There is no reason for you to think I'd be unkind to you. Don't assume I'm being unkind to you. You SHOULD know better. I like you and I KNOW that you do ;);).


Don't be moved by my reaction to car seats. I was surprised. But this doesn't mean I'm judging you. If I were to judge, I would never do that publicly.

My point in bringing this up was to make you aware of the obvious. Someone that is being unkind to you does not make a warm comment to you after a discussion. I wouldn't be unkind to you then turn around and say your typo was cute.

By no way did I take it as an attack. What I was making referance to is your broad stroke of the brush.....in your initial statement undeducated pet owners. As the majority of pet owners do transport their pets via car seats.....things have evolved from the only safest way of transporting a pet was via crates. Pet owners have evolved, and for the best, from transporting their pets on their lap or allowing them to roam the car to car seats. So, there are more options than there were years ago.

Like I said, for me traveling to shows, car seats are not an option, with the number of dogs and equipment needed. But, my dogs love traveling around town in their car seats, they are able to see outside, I can better see them through my rear vision mirror. They are more secure being harnessed in.

What I think happened was the uneducated pet owner and a car seat comment was taken out of context by me I'm guessing and I apolgize if I took it out of context and started anything. I just know that show/pet owners do use car seats :) If I had a car seat and was going to a local show I would probably use it because I do have some that get car sick and Mary informed me that it works in a car seat. I use vari kennels and maybe this is a good topic to see if something will help with dogs and car sickness...wire crates vs. vari kennels vs. car seats to help with car sickness, something to investigate :)

Charmer use to get sick in a Veri Kennel. Switched him to a wire crate and it did the trick. CJ would become agitated in a Veri Kennel, switched to a wire crate he at least settles down, in a car seat he travels wonderfully. A couple of others I've had vomitted no matter what I put them in....until I switched to the car seat....no problem anymore.

Rescue remedy is the cure for motion sickness in the car.

Oh Donna - you didn't start anything. It just hit me wrong about pet owners being uneducated by using car seats. That wasn't a good comment to make when there's so many pet owners on here - reading. It's far better to have these toy breeds in a car seat than to be loose and thrown around a vehicle. Even large breeds should be secured. But I think everyone's point has been made and that should be the end of it.

Mary - I'm surprised that Charmer didn't prefer the car seat like CJ. Whatever makes them happy, right? Wish there would have been more entries here... poor CJ - I bet he misses his Mom. I really hope there's more for the Specialty.

Charmer being a Champion for a few years, only travels in a car seat. Loves it, but I do have to make sure that his harness is secure....his main problem is that he wants to get to me.

Tried Rescue Remedy, Citrene, Giner Snaps, Bonine, Pepto.....nothing works. Something in being higher, the car seat being very secured in, and the fresh air I think has something to do with stopping the vomitting.

Most of the time Bonine works and I've used Rescue Remedy and some of my dogs it really doesn't matter what you give them to help. I have a friend that has a havanese and has given all these things too and he still gets sick in the car. I'm going to suggest to her something other than a vari kennel and see if that works.

I used Rescue Remedy and a Product from Plush Puppy to calm Denny down for the ring....and you saw how great that worked.....Mr. Circus Clown himself.
