Show leads Which do you personally use and why? Where do you obtain your show leads? What must one look for when searching for the perfect show leads? Comfort? Style? |
I like the show leads that are referred to as the kindness lead. It means that there is a soft broader band that goes around the neck. Besides that, I look for what feels right in my hand, and I like an easy way to close up the neck loop. Not too rigid for Yorkie showing. Some people like to go with a colour that almost disappears from a distance, like a neutral tone. Some like a little bit of bling on the lead. |
I usually get mine always at the shows. This way I know what I want and if I see it I get it. I am always loosing leads at shows, reason I always bring backups. I spent a fortune on the beaded one and is so pretty, but I am not use to using it so it feels odd and will have a tendency to gravitate down always (not sure I like that). I have kindness leads and the regular ones (thin). It depends on my dogs which ones I use based on how well they do with each one. Some do well with kindness leads and some of mine do not like it. So you just have to practice and swith them out and see which they perform better with. Just like us they have their prefences. |
I've got the kindness leads from Lainee ltd.I will look for leads at the show...great idea Tina :) |

(405 386-5466/386-2591) She custom makes them according to your hieght and the dog and each dog is different. She also makes them with beads. I prefer the braided satin neck piece. |

well there is a AKC dog show coming up here in about a month that I am going to try to go to...it is not that far from me....probably 30 mins....it is in Valley Center, KS...I will probably need help seeing what time the Yorkie show is so that I can make it to that... as far as buying from dog shows...are the vendor setup during the whole show or is it like before and after shows? i have not been to any shows before and really really need to go to as many as i can so i can grasp this showing world a little better. also when going to these shows...are we allow to go up to any show/exhibitor/handler and talk with them when they are not showing or is that not allowed? |

Karen is great, she does make the padded neck pieces according to your dog, length, wideth, etc. But, I've found that the braided satin puts less pressure on their trachea and they balk at it less. |

Try not to speak to the exhibitor/handlers prior to them showing. They are busy getting their dogs ready. But, most are willing to talk and help after they've shown. |

I use the Rescoe kindness lead. It's a little bit thicker and I have more control - especially with Gidget who is still very young and tends to sidewind a little bit. |
i was looking at some kindness leads...they are thicker than the ones i got when i took Mei Ling to confirmation class... |
