NYC central park - dog theives!! Just thought as many here are going to NYC soon - best to remind ourselves of what dangers there are out there. This morning I went to the central park with my babies(4 babies) and BF as usual. It is leash free before 9, so puppies can run around freely...:) We walked around the park and when we got to the 110 & lennox ave exit, we met this guy and he kept asking us questions about his dog. He told us how his dog was sick and I felt really bad, so I tried my best to give him advise and even told him to check out YT for experience Yorkie moms.... and I just realized that one of our baby(Mini wore blue jacket) was missing! I was so shocked and yelled at my BF to go to the exit to check if anyone took her(Mini) meanwhile the guy kept talking to me and kept saying "I didn't see any dog wearing blue" I just ignored him and ran to opposite direction and people were pointing at this guy with black jacket. When I ran after him calling mini, he dropped something blue and it was Mini!!!!! Those two guys(one who talked to us and the other who took mini) must be together! Yorkie parents who go to Central park in the morning, please be careful. Unfortunately there are bad people in the park.:( I'm always careful with my babies, but it just happened so fast! Thanks god I got my mini back, and I really really hope those guys wouldn't try to steal other poeple's babies again!!!! |
Oh my cow! You can't trust anyone any more. It's scary taking the little ones out. |
I would have freaked OUT.......Shame on them if I could have caught them. That makes me so mad. Good thing you were paying attention and got her back. Shame on them. |
Wow, that's horrible!! :( Seems as if one distracts while the other one steals. What a set-up, those CREEPS. Thanks for the timely warning too. I'm so happy you got Mini back. |

I changed my profile to my kennel name so this is me now....can't wait to meet you in NYC. Pam:D:D:D:D |
OMGosh Gail, how scary is that!!!!! There are many dangers and while we may not be able to change the world around us, we can do our best to prevent our (including our furbabies) being hurt or taken advantage. Thanks for the reminder!! |
I live in NYC..it is not as dangerous as ppl think it is. Sure, it is but it is like many other places. You have to just be careful and keep your babies leashed up and with you at all times. When you are in a good area..say upper west side, downtown..there are LOTS of dog owners with their dogs and bad things don't really happen there. But where this person was-near central park on the east side(110 st) is really not a good area at all..so don't be scared but be careful. There's nothing to worry about. |

That is disgusting!!! Very glad that this turned out the way that it did. Have a good weekend! |
It can happen anywhere !!! It can happen anywhere !!!! So just b careful , and keep them near. When I'm with my furbabies , I watch everyone around me. And for sure I will not get into a conversation with someone , while the babies r loose, no no ..... That's like the old story " Did u see a dog ?, I lost my dog story, will u help me. " That's what we tell our children to stay away from and run. Thanks God U got your baby back, and that there will never b a next time. bark@ulater!!!!!! manina,miley:aimeeyork,max:animal36 |
wow! I never trust mine off leash in an open area since 14 years ago one took off after a squirrel across all of Washington Square (never mind the fact its illegal around here anyway and they do ticket!). I do go to Leroy St dog park b the piers in the summer. There is a mix of big and little dogs which makes me nervous so I am on them - but I must say it is the best mixed group experience I have been to ever. If a dog shows any bit of aggression - or even too much excitement they are asked to leave and with the exception of a few pugs and puggles who do mix with the big guys...the little ones really stick together and the big ones do their own thing. Its funny how my girls really gravitate to the other yorkies. The big guys tend to monopolize the pools - but no one lets their little ones in the pools without close supervision so it's not an issue. It's a great dog park if you find yourself downtown - and also the best place this year to watch the July 4th Macy's fireworks! You are only allowed in with a dog so about 8 or 9 people with about 12 dogs had a private showing area for the fireworks while everyone else crowded around outside. |
