New York Shows....
 
Is anyone coming up to the shows in NY in Feb? If so, where are you staying? I really want to go but am not much of a traveler!

Most everyone stays at the NewYorker where the shows are held..which quite close to the train station.

I heard the hotel was booked full now. Not sure, just what I heard through the grapevine. There are several other hotels near by though that still have opeinings. I would still call the New Yorker - maybe they had a cancelation.

I used to take my daughter to American Girl Place all the time, this is a decent hotel with pretty rooms!! They also offer a great goverment discount for state employees ( any state).

Check with the show promoter they usually have arraignments with several hotels in the area for discounts

I checked out the New Yorker and the rooms are $269 a night. I guess I won't be able to swing the whole weekend! :rolleyes:

Since they've just remodeled the NYer hotel rates have gone up. However, if you mention the dog show you do get a discount. Not sure who is the superintendent, but a premium list is usually published containing other hotels, within walking distance, some offering weekend rates. But, with the YTCA and YTCofGNY on Friday and Progessive Dog Show on Friday afternoon. YTCofGNY on Saturday and YTCA on Sunday, and Westminster Monday & Tuesday.....lots of activities going on in conjuction with the Dog Shows. Things are pretty booked up in advance.

Mention the dog show and the rates are somewhat cheaper! The hotel Penn is there close by and there is a list of hotels at 2010 Dog Show - News, Events, Finalists, Dog Breeds & Awards - WestminsterKennelClub.org

MF-B or info dog should have a list....

I know I booked my room in July LOL...I think they might still have some rooms left but not sure. I had heard they were booked but maybe some will cancel.

Getting excited about going to NY!! I wish it would hurry up LOL...I think I'm more excited about going to NY than Christmas this year LOL...

Hi! I will be there. I am a member of both - YTC of GNY & Progressive. Mention Yorkshire Terrier Club for New Yorker Hotel for discount, for Pennsylvania Hotel, mention the Progressive Dog Club of NY for their rate.
Progressive uses MBF (infodog dot com), YTC of Greater NY uses Rau (raudogshow dot com).
Last time I checked, NYer still had rooms with single queen beds available. Hope to see you there! :)

Yes, both the YTCA shows and the Progressive let spectators in. No need to buy tickets in advance.

I remember because the first time I went, I went without a dog. It's $5.00 for entrance and $5.00 for a catalog.

I took Cammie my first year LOL...I went in 2008 without a dog for the first time and that was NICE! I want to do that again soon. Going without a dog is sometimes better LOL

AKC Rules say no. Your question has been asked before, but can you answer one back for me. Why would you want to take your dog, it's a long 3 days of shows, from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. That is unless you're having your dog evaluated for the ring.

it is a long weekend especially when I'm staying 6 days this year LOL...I'm going to be tired when I get home! My recommendations for bringing a dog to the show would be only if you are having it evaluated because as Mary stated it's a very long day and you have more fun than the dog. Lots of things to watch and see and it's best to leave the pets at home :) Of course this is just my opinion :)
