This is UKC Champion, Dee's Lil' Diamond Jewel Theif before and after. I am amazed at the difference in coat color and texture. Will it stay this beautiful blue and silky texture when it grows back or will it be the same as before. I would be thrilled down to my toenails if it stays blue/silky. then I would put her back in AKC. I pulled her from AKC at nine months old for obvious reasons LOL But she did get a couple of blue ribbons before I pulled her.

How beautiful her full coat was. Why did you cut her down?
I bet she feels so different. I love that cut, it's what Buddy sport's
all the time. I get lot's of compliments on his silky shinny coat.
She would be a perfect sister for him. I hope one day to find that
special lady that looks like him but is 1/2 his size:p.
Dee, she has the sweetest face. I bet your heart was racing as
you started shaving her. I love her cut down.
Congratulations on her blue ribbons also.

Thank you. Why did I cut her down? I got tired of keeping six dogs in show coats. I am getting too old for that and hers was a problem especially. Once they get their championship, I don't see any point in keeping it. She got her championship at 14 months. She is two now.

Her coat does have the desired color.....I have a questions Have you bred her yet?

How old was she in her first picture.....if she was still a pup, you shouldn't have pulled her.

I did notice that she still has a bit of thumprints close to her ears.....but, not to be bothered, that can be easily hidden or fixed.

Well that makes sence. I can't stand one with all that hair I can't even
fanthom six! She looks beautiful either way. That's one thing about
Yorkies they never look older than a puppy.:p I love her face.

Mary I am not sure how old she wass in the first picture. She got her champion at 14 months and that picture was taken before her last show. I was scared to death the AKC judge would DQ her on colr. That was when they first started doing that and I didn't want that on her record. i bred her back the end of April and she had one little one ounce something pup that I could not save. yes, I can hide the thumbprints. I know how but her fall was the most beautiful reddish gold you ever saw and down to the floor when I cut her down last week. Do you think she will stay the correct color/texture now/ I guess that is my question. I know it will take a long time to grow the coat back out but with her color now, she could go AKC and do well I have no doubt. She has not forgotten anything about showing.

I had no idea she was that color under all that other mess. LOL

Since she's had a litter and didn't turn light on you, she may keep that color.

How long do you think it'll take you to grow out her coat? Is her conformation so good that you think it'll be worth it to grow it out?

The thumb prints can be hidden by how you do the topknot. Take a small amount of hair for the poof, the hair you take should be way in front of the ears. Then after you've done the poof, the hair from a bit in front of the ears can be parted and put on each side of the head, covering the thumb prints. Then take the rest of the gold in the back of the head, rubber band it and attach it to the poof's pony tail with a band, then do the turn over. Not as complicated as it sounds, just takes a bit of practice.

She has a fast growing coat and if I take care of it, I figure about two years but I really don't have a clue. it was to the floor when she was six months old so maybe it won't take as long as i think. Do you think she will stay blue or revert back to the dartker color in the before picture. That was nearly black it was such a dark color. She is Lake Buena Vista and Fairytales. yes, her conformation is good. This blue coat feels like satin. I am amazed.

I think she'll stay blue, don't think she'll revert to black. Based on a couple of pet yorkies that are black, soft coated and have been cut down. Their coat is definately still black and when they begin to turn color it's usually a cleric gray as they get older....I mean about 8 or 9.

So there is hope. Thanks for your opinion. Oh and I do all my topknots the way you said. I think it looks so much nicer and makes the fall look thicker. never thought about hiding the soot tho. Someone at a show just showed me recently how to do it.

A lot of exhibitors don't know the sectioning in 3 parts method....but, it is great for hiding those thumb prints and adding fullness to the ear feathers. The trick is when attaching the back ponytail to the front is not to pull the poof....just have to attach it losely.

Dee, your better color girls usually do not break until they are 2-3 years of age. So you should have waited. I would grow her hair out and see how she looks. Her color should hold now. I have never seen one revert back to black, unless they had a sore or something like that and a dark patch of hair grew back.

I know Fairytales usually has a great silky coat.

I have a pet male that is neutered and old - he is still black and cut down (of course).

i'm not part of the showing world or anything but just wanted to add a thought.

Morgan has a black coat when its grows out. She is a cotton coat so i don't let her hair get very long. As soon as i shave her down she looks exactly like yours. As it grows out it gets darker again and doesn't stay blue.

As you said the better colored girls don't break until older. I much prefer my dogs to not begin to break color or blend through until 10 months of age.

Now the other thing I just thought of, if you're gonna grow her out, you will lose breeding time......keeping a girl in coat while with whelp is such a pain and takes alot of special care.
