Handler in Pa? Does anyone know of a handler in Pa? I just purchased a show male and would like to get into the show ring,or I would like to work with someone, and or have a handler. Any advice for the newbie? Thanks Steph |
Have you checked with your breeder yet? You could also contact the breeders in your area that show and ask them or go to AKC for agents (they have a list). Also go to the shows yourself and ask - handlers will be listed as agents in the show catalog. Just be sure they specialize in showing yorkies. With our breed coats - it takes an expert to present one in top condition. Also be sure they are very good to the yorkies they take out and very responsible. It is tough handing your baby off to someone and you want to be able to trust them. I am very picky and one should be. There are several breeders that do not live in your area, but do show in PA. You could meet up with them when there is a show. Just a few suggestions. I would show your pup yourself till they are in full coat - usually 2 year old. And then if you still want to - place them with a handler you trust. Go to handling classes yourself too and learn. You will meet people there that also could recommend someone. Best of luck - get ready to have a lot of fun! It is very exciting showing. Who did you get your baby from? Share photos too! We love to see pictures! Love those babies! :D |
Thank you for your advice. I plan on showing him in the puppy classes, and then will decide if he should continue his show career to place him with a professional. I got him from Missouri and he should be home the 1st of August. I cannot wait. I will post pictures as soon as I get him home. Thanks:) Steph |
Pictures 3 Attachment(s) I finally got some pictures. I do not have him home yet. He is coming home August 1st, I can't wait. I am excited to get him home. He is not CH. Sired, only CH. grandsired. I thought for my first show experience this would be ok, and I could learn from my mistakes. If I really like showing, I will purchase a CH. Sired male and by then hopefully I will know more of what I am doing in the show ring. His daddy is Sillers Lil Bita Ron Del's Kaboom. My goal is to have him ready for some puppy classes by November. He is adorable. :) Best of luck with him. |

I just finished Rowdy for Deb and he has the same Sire. He does not have to be champion sired to become a champion. |

Hi Steph! This is Deb Sillers... Are you sure he's out of my Kaboom? Although Kaboom does produce really nice dogs, I don't have any pups out of him right now. |
1 Attachment(s) Hi Deb, Boy when I read your post I got nervous that I messed up with his pedigree. I will attach the file that was sent to me as to tell me who his dad is and also his mom. Look at it and let me know if this is correct. Thanks Steph |
Deb, It would not let me send the moms pedigree because it is too many bites? I will send it to your personal email. Steph |
Boy I feel stupid, I realized what i did wrong. My pup's daddy is Sillers Lil'Bita Kaboom's Bandit and his sire is Siller's Lil'Bita Ron Del's Kaboom. I am soooo Sorry for this mistake, I guess I need to learn how to read the pedigrees before I say anything. Sorry Deb and to everyone else. I still love my little guy and can't wait to get him home and into the puppy classes. Steph:) |
