I started back making yorkie figurines!! I guess it was all this time off for summer.

Here are a my first ones. Two are made out of porcelain and the yorkie face pin is made out of clay. I still need to paint them and think I will do the porcelain ones in a watercolor wash. The porcelain ones are - one standing and another is a side view which I will make into a pin to wear. It is hard making them so small - have to pay close attention in creating the details. I plan to make more in different positions so that they tell a story.

So does it look like I am on the right track? I was recognized in a yorkie book for my yorkie stautes I made a long time ago and hope these will be loved by others too. Thanks for letting me share.

How do you do that, work with porcelin I mean.
They are beautiful. Look at the profile. So perfect.

Thanks you guys! I use to make yorkie statues back in the 80s. Creating figurines is like falling off a horse - you just get back up again. I use to have my own shop in the 90s where I use to sell the things I made, but made things mostly in wood, painting, and dried flower arrangements. I like to work though in all mediums. I like working with the clay and porcelain best. Yes, I do plan on selling them. First I have to get them finished. LOL Thanks for the boost of confidence. :thumbs up
If you guys send me some cute action shots I will see if I can make them into a figurine. Let me know too what was going on - whether it was chasing one another or just begging. Thanks for the help. :)

I made two more a pin and a figurine.
I call the figurine - "Pillow Talk," since it is a yorkie playing on a pillow. It is kinda hard to view details of the yorkie face pin/broche.

OK... you HAVE me! I am getting ready to leave for 3-4 weeks in the RV, but when I get back I would like to talk to you some more. I would love to have you make a few for me... maybe using pics of mine as a model?? would that be possible??

How cool!! Sounds great to me Sonya. This is what I would like to do - make them personal for each owner. You could have or wear a replica of your own baby. This would be fun for me, since each one would be unique and different!

Yea! how cool. oh BTW.. I just noticed you are in GA. We will be going thru GA on our trip. Where are you in GA??

I am about 45 min. north of Atlanta. Just at the foothills of the N. Ga. Mountains.

Tina, they look great. I can't wait to see them after they are painted. You definitely have a wonderful talent.

Oh well, It was a thought..lol.. We will be travelling down the coast. But I WILL contact you when I get back.

Here's a couple more I did today. The first two will be wearable pins. The last one is a yorkie in a basket. These are made from porcelain too. I still have to paint them, but must wait for them to go through the drying process thoroughly first. I can't wait till they are finished and I can paint them. :D

Thank you. But I just create them. No wood carvings. What we did was to cut things out of wood and then stain and paint them. My hubby would cut them out of wood and I would do the painting when country stuff was popular. We made quilt racks - some with 3-D bows (there is a trick to making them) and other things.

My hubby did some jig saw work and Jimmy Carter has one of his pieces. Jimmy Carter was so impressed with the workmanship my husband did that he wrote a letter to my husband. We have it framed and sealed up now, since we noticed the ink was starting to fade a bit. There is a story with this one - We actually had a handwriter visit our shop and analyzed this letter for us - she said she could tell a lot by the person's handwritting. It was very cool. Jimmy Carter stated that he actually has this piece that my husband made in his own home and not in his museum. Jimmy Carter received what my husband made from one of Jummy Carter's friends as a birthday gift. They have a summer home in the mountains and they were all meeting there to celebrate. This was about 14 years ago now. Wow, how time flies. It was pretty neat though how someone so important took the time to thank and acknowledge my husband's work.

I want one of the pins when you get them done! Please pm when they are finished they are beautiful!!!!! Wow how talented!!!!!!:D:thumbup:

Wow, you do amazing work. Absolutely beautiful! I would love to see pictures of some of the statues or other things you've done. Have you ever made small ones like these that you can show a picture of what they look like when they are painted?

can't wait to see them painted, from what I see there are ones with NO bows.. my JD never wears a bow in his head and getting things that remind me of him becomes harder because of that. Can't wait for the finished look!! what price range will you have??

I am in the mist of painting them now and should have them finish soon. Maybe by tomorrow. Thank you guys for your interest in them. Not sure how much to charge right now. Any ideas?

All I can say is your work is just exquisite. I remember when the late Terri Shumsky did some wonderful work but I think hers were all in clay but I could be wrong.

I love the way you have the hair on the yorkie seperated so it looks so natural. You really have a gift.

I haven't a clue as to what to charge but with a talent like yours it should be alot.:) Joan

Here is the first set I just finished. I want to do another with watercolor. This set is done in acrylics for full color effect.

I was thinking of doing some of them as a pendant to wear as a necklace too. What do you guys think??

Wow, I did not expect this. :happyboun Thank you for liking what I do. I was just trying to get suggestions from you all and to see if you all would like these. Something new for me. You guys will have to wait a bit - no buying yet - so I can get things set up in the For Sale section, so I am following all rules here.
