Pet vs Westminster: Here we go again! :thumbdown:mad:Subject: [VAPetLaw] PETA to openly target Westminster. Here is goes again, please forward widely especially to anyone youknow who many attend the show! This is what they are sending out by e-mail: Join PETA for a Demonstration Against the Westminster Dog Show on Monday . PETA TV:Wrong Meeting? Join PETA for a demonstration to speak out against the Westminster Dog Show and its contribution to the companion animal overpopulation crisis. The American Kennel Club (AKC) is devoted to keeping bloodlines "pure," labeling mixed breeds as inferior, and creating a dominant "master race" that meets their prejudiced ideas of "perfection."Please join us to let the public know that the AKC is the KKK of dogs. A PETA campaigner clad in a "KKK" costume will set up a faux registration table to remind both breeders and attendees that every time an animal is bred and born, a shelter animal loses his or her chance at finding a loving home. Posters and leaflets will be provided, so just bring yourself and anyone you can recruit to join you. Please contact Virginia Fort at 757-284-7152 or VirginiaF@peta.org with any questions or to RSVP. When: Monday , February 9, 12 noon-931 p.m. Where: Outside the main entrance of Madison Square Garden, west side of Seventh Avenue at 32nd Street. Please visit PETA's animal birth control (ABC) Web site for more information about our ABC campaign, and e-mail AnimalBirthControl@peta.org if you'd like to get involved!2 Thank you for everything that you do to help animals! For all animals, Heather Whidden, Activist Liaison People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals=20757-213-8729=20757-628-0784 (fax)=20HeatherW@peta.org |
Out of respect for some YT members that are PETA advocates I've refrained from posting in most of these threads. But I couldn't keep quiet on this any longer. If PETA is going to compare exhibitor/breeders to the KKK, what would they compare themselves to? Afterall, PETA is responsible for "exterminating" thousands of dogs. In fact, PETA is responsible for euthanizing more dogs than they are responsible for saving.......how is that "Ethical Treatment of Animals"? PETA should be careful with it's labeling....it could come back to haunt them! And, I'm sorry - I don't want to offend any PETA members here, but the group PETA, has offended me with this one. |
This really makes me sick; I occasionally read threads on Yorkietalk about someone with a mixed breed complaining that purebred owners are "prejudice". People have choices with whom they produce offspring, is PETA suggesting that we allow dogs these same free choices? PETA's problem is that they don't believe that we should use animals of any kind for any purpose. For a organization with the word "ethical" in it's title, I find it ironic, because I believe that they have no ethics and will do or say anything to get more publicity for their cause. People use the excuse, "while at least people are talking about them and they bring the problem to the attention to people," but they plant a seed with this kind of garbage, that does all animals, including the human animal, more harm than good. Even the director of HSUS said that the shelters don't have dogs from good breeders. PETA seems to want to destroy the good breeders first. |
With respect to PETA Most breeders at Westminster are there to show healthy breeds that they love. The breeders are trying to show what responsible breeding will do to better their specific breeds. I think it is wonderful to rescue a dog from the shelters, but many of those dogs were not breed with care and can have genetic problems from all of the different breeds in their background. Not all breeders are responsible, but the dogs that go to Westminster are bred for the love of improving and continuing specific breeds. Puppy mills and irresponsible breeders are where problems come from whether the dog is prue bred or not. Again most, if not all, of the breeders that have made it to Wesminster breed for the love of the dog and to have healthy puppies. Again I post this with respect to all dog lovers. |
I was a PETA member for over 20 years. I totally agree with JENCAR, that's why I'm no longer a member. |
look in the sports section!!! Subject: PETA dresses in KKK garb outside Westminster Dog Show - USATODAY.com PETA dresses in KKK garb outside Westminster Dog Show - USATODAY.com Now thats how ALL organizations should get their agenda across!!LOL:thumbdown |
PETA has been making comparisons between the AKC and KKK for years now. Here is one of their video advertisements that they often use. YouTube - Wrong meeting? In my opinion the only funny part is the ignorance that PETA clearly displays in the commercial, stretching to draw not only inappropriate but unfounded comparisons. What PETA should be posting is this: YouTube - PETA Kills Animals |
The KKK? Seriously?! Give me a break! Trying to combat one touchy situation by imitating another. Aside from the point they are trying to make regarding breeders, do they have no clue how incredibly offensive that is to so many Americans? |
That is completely disgusting. They should be throughly ashamed of their antics. How could anyone take them seriously when their "song and dance" is so outrageous? I'm truly appalled. They tried too hard to be offensive in hopes that someone might turn an eyelash in their direction. How can you send out message of love ( of animals) when you're wearing the attire of hate? |

If it were up to PETA, there would be no dogs, period. Frankly, I don't care if I offend any PETA members. Sheila |
Comparing the AKC to the KKK is a pretty big stretch, I don't see the AKC going around killing mutts and dogs that don't fit into "breed standard". I think they are more likely to loose supporters & respect because of these antics rather than gain them. They should be protesting outside Petland instead and trying to educate people instead of offending them. |
