Yorkie Speciality Show? How does it work? Do you sign up by classes just like the regular shows? We have one coming up in our area and I am thinking of putting Cash in. He will be just under nine months old. It will be his first AKC show. I know usually the specialities are the more experienced dogs but someonee posted on here last year that their puppy had won something. I believe it was Saleswoman with the dog Becky handled for her. Thanks |
Yes, you sign up for classes as you would other shows. But often with specialities they also hold a sweepstakes - again signing up by classes. I like the specialities because have the option to do to different competitions at one show. And from experience, since they are different judges....it can/is different winners. Good luck.....I think specialities are fun! |

I assume you are asking about the Kentucky Speciality? If so - here is a link: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Affiliate Clubs and - Jack Onofrio Dog Shows, LLC Regular Show at Lou. - Jack Onofrio Dog Shows, LLC They are held the same week March 11- 15th. |
Thanks, I found it and figured it all out, I think!!!!!!!!:) |
Dee, you will love the specialty show. There are usually many beautiful yorkies at them and sometimes lots of puppies. I have seen puppies win major points at specialty shows too. Good luck to you. |

You ought to enter all the shows there! You are gonna see some really pretty yorkies! Chandler with Kirsten and I think her new bitch special as well, Tonia with her new special so you'll really get to see some very very lovely yorkies!! Kirsten has a new special this year and OMG she's a beauty!!!!! I am honored to know the owner of the bitch special Kirsten will be showing this year as Lamer was bred by the same breeders as Radar!!! Groveshire's really have beautiful yorkies!!! Donna |

Dee, I totally agree you should enter all days!! I am sure you will do wonderfully! Best of luck!! |
Well, thank you for remembering My girl, Paddy was indeed entered last year in Louisville. It was her first show, and mine(with a Yorkie). She did win a ribbon, and for her first time out, she did great. We entered her just like any other show. I must admit, I was so new, and a little nervous, I let Becki take her in for me. It was a great time, I learned a lot, actually I was able to have Maria K-C, look over Paddy and give me some wonderrul advice with her. We have since learned a lot more, not sure I would do it the same way again.....because NOW I really know what I am doing...LOL. But, it was a fun day be all, and I was thrilled to see all the wonderful yorkies, instead of being on the sidelines, like I had been for nearly 3 years.... It was a fun time....but, remember, everyone is there to win.......so keep that in mind. Its serious business, that is for sure....but, well worth it! Good luck Dee |
Good luck Dee. I know you and Cash will have a great time. |
Thanks everyone. I probably will go to the show every day. I live an hour away so no hotel fees or anything. I don't expect to win anything over the big handlers, but they do all put their show clothes on the same I way I do. LOL I just want the experience and the chance to see all the beautiful dogs. AND, if I am lucky, I can get someone to evaluate Cash. With all those champions in the front end of his pedigree, he ought to have it in his blood. He goes on lead like a dream. We are still working on the baiting tho so he will look the judge in the eye.:) |
