Show breeders in Socal, please help! I have a male and a female puppy that is 12 weeks old that I would love to have evaluated to see if they could be show potiential. Is there any show breeders that I could meet up with to help me evaluate these puppies? Or maybe you could point me in the right direction to someone that can help me? I would love to have a judge go over them but how would I go about doing that? I appreciate any advice or feedback! |
DejaVu I’m not sure where in California do you live, but it would be plenty dog show in California. Northern California: Sam Mateo: show will be on December 27, 28, 29 & 30 http://www.infodog.com/jps/586/jpg586.pdf http://www.infodog.com/jps/619/jpg619.pdf about 13 yorkies are entered If you live in Southern California Shows would be: In Indio, CA Toy Dog Breeders Association Of Southern California - Friday January 02, 2009 January 2, 3 &4 Another one would be in Ventura, CA http://www.jbradshaw.com/92/pl.PDF January 16, 17 & 18 I hope it helps. :animal-pa |
ive been to many shows in my area, but they are 12 weeks old.... or you suggesting I take them to the show and ask around? I wouldnt want to disturb anyone and I am hesitant to take a 12 week old puppy to a dog show.. |

As I understand your local club would be this one YTCLA I think it'll help to meet people and learn a lot. |
I would suggest you visit local AKC shows and meet the breeders and if you like the dogs the breeders are showing ask if you can make arrangements to have your pups evaluated. I strongly suggest you do not take twelve week pups to the show site. I know around here breeders help each other evaluate pups. Good luck! |
12 weeks may be too soon to have dogs qualified as show potential.....teeth and bites can change, colors can change too. Please don't take 12 week old puppies to a dog show. If there is a show breeder in your area, maybe make an appointment to meet with the breeder after the show--bring pictures from all sides. |
at 12 weeks I can see how they would not be considered show quality, because they can and do change very much as they mature. But why cant they be show potiential at this age if so far they are correct?? |
Yes, often the trained eye can tell the show potentials at around 12 weeks. Your girl looks very promising btw. If you want to get into conformation I would hold on to your two pups and see how they mature. Train them as if they were going to be show dogs--work them on the table, walking on a lead, and stacking. When they are older I would definitely have them evaluated. I am sending you a PM. :) |
Thanks for the pm Kristena, I emailed you back! Hope everyone had a happy holiday! |
