Pricing is all relevant according to what the breeder feels is fair, and who is willing to pay the price. In my experience, some have been a lot higher than others, but not necessarily better.
Does her contract guarantee "Show Quality" or "Show Potential/Prospect"? I have always paid much more for Show Quality. But with Show Quality comes the responsiblity of the Breeder to replace the pup if they fall apart or have problems that prohibits them from Showing. Which you probably wouldn't return her anyway. So if you are "hoping" to be able to Show or have a Handler finish her, then your expectations aren't too high if she doesn't make it to Show Quality.
I've not personally dealt with her or her dogs and lines, so I can't help you there.

Aww thanks...i really want a puppy and i hope to get started in my show hobby....so i am stuck...what sort of question would you ask a show breeder when out looking for either a potential or quality?

what should be listed in the contract?

:thumbup: I would be suspicious as well...that is on the smaller side. I know because I have two that were/are that weight at that age and I think both will be about 4 lbs...MAYBE 4 1/2. I don't know everything about showing yet, but don't judges like to see at least 5 lbs in females? I didn't think the smaller ones showed quite as well.

I went show puppy shopping for 8 months and I had offers from $3800..(imported from Mexico)...to 1500. All were a contract for SHOW POTENTIAL. All those contracts said they would replace the puppy if it didn't turn out. Everybody is different, but I agree with you...I like the training advantage that another member suggested and I like the bonding opportunity. For me, it's huge if I can potty train the puppy myself. Just my two cents.

I bought my first show potential Yorkie in 15 years last year. She weighed in at 1.6 oz at 9 weeks old. She is now 4.8 lbs at 11 mos. Some grow very slowly. She also had her first heat at 6 months!!! She has not stopped growing yet either. This is slow growing line for sure. My second is 4.4 lbs at 5 months old. She's lost all of her front teeth already on bottom and top. This one I HOPE is done growing soon, but I fear not. I pray she'll stop by 5.5 lbs. Again, breeder says the line grows VERY fast. I have wittnessed both extremes so far. I showed Yorkies 15 years ago for about 10 years. While my experience 'lately' is limited and much has changed over the years, All I can say is they are ALL VERY different. Growth, Breaking patterns, Personalities, Trainability, etc...
Shop hard, and don't stop until you have what your eye is looking for! There will always be another litter if it's not exactly what you want. Study the standard and watch some videos of Yorkie Specialties. I went all the way to Texas, St. Louis, Chicago and Arizona to find what I was looking for. Finally I found her. And yet...she's still only a potential:) Best wishes!!!

aww thanks...i am still searching...my search has not ended...hehe...Glenda's babies are draw me back but so do Debs....if i had the money i would buy from both lines...hehe...and see when that takes me...

hehe that would be sweet to be able to get one from each line at the same time..but i don't think i will be able to handle that!
