"Growing Coat on a Doorknob" or other suggestions- help! Hey guys, I just got my new little guy yesterday, and he has really sparse hair on his head and other patches that have been rubbed off by belly bands. I guess he got bubblegum stuck in his head and his old mom had to cut it out! :eek: Anyway, He is thirteen months old, and while he doesn't have the thickest coat, it is a nice silk and not too thin... I searched on here for hours last night and found several suggestions for growing coat, but no one seemed to have reported anything that they love. Have any of you guys tried this or anything else that works? I also like the idea of this recipe as it seems high in fat and would help put some weight on the little tyke!!! I would really appreciate any input! Thanks so much! |
A high quality dog food is a must. Also a good shampoo and conditioner. Be careful when your brush/comb not to pull or break the hair. Given time and a good diet his coat should come in nicely. Good luck with your new little one, |

1 Attachment(s) We've tried this recipe and it didn't fatten them up. they get about a teaspoon sized ball and bedtime each night and they love it. We call them peanutbutter balls around here and Connor's coat has done pretty well on it. In the end it's all about genetics though. |

I feed Nutro Natural Choice. Equyss has a product called Mega Tek that is suppose to help hair grow faster on bald spots. Maybe it would work where the hair was rubbed. If nothing else he'll smell good, it smells like suntan lotion. |

well i also posted something about this about a month ago. and i decided to go with the how to grow hair on a door knob and have been doing for about a month now. i think it has helped a little but i think too soon to tell. im kind annoyed tho becasue when i first started giving it to her she loved it and now i have to sneak it in to make her eat it. But i will just keep hiding it to make her eat it because it made like 5 ziplocks full. So once i start ot see a big difference ill post and see what you all think. |

i know she is a picky eater anyway so ive been boiling chicken and mixing in cottage cheese and bluebuffalo kibble to try and get her to eat. she really likes the chicken so i have been wrapping it around little bits of the peanut butter stuff and its been working. so hopefully this will kickstart everything and we will have a show coat faster. |
how to grow hair on a door knob !! Yes I just started trying it---just one question---How do ya get the door know to eat it ??? My Kam turns up his nose---so I'm hiding it in his daily spoon of Pedigree chicken---he eats it IF it's smashed up really really good ! I've only done it 2 times now--so can't tell ya if it works ! I use a supplement called Gro n Glo on my maltese - it seems to work well to grow coat. I wish there was a major product that sped up the growing process! |
There is a product called "Show Gro " that you can buy in the US, can't get it here in Canada. I have a friend in Cali that swears by it, she started feeding it to her pup when he was quite young. By 13 months his coat was on the floor. I'm sure a lot has to do with genetics though. I know once the hair is long enough that wrapping really seems to speed up the growth. My 2 seem to have totally different rates of hair growth, my boys hair grows really fast and my girls is very slow ( she has the nicer silk though) |
