Going to a dog show this weekend.. i'm confused
 
So my mom and i went today.. and we are going to go tomorrow and sunday too.. but we are SO confused... why do the same dogs keep coming out like three time... sometimes one will come... and then two will go... and then all three.. and then like two again... lol. please help us understand!

You have me confused LOL...you will have the winners of each individual class come back for either winners dog and then winners bitch. Winners Dog and Winners bitch will then come back for the Best of Breed class so, you can have one dog and one bitch come back into the ring 3 times ;) I hope I explained it for you LOL..

ok i get the winners dog and winners bitch

but what do you mean by "each individual class" what are the "classes"?

Ok you have:

6-9 month old puppy dog class
9-12 puppy dog class
12-18 puppy dog class
American Bred dog class
Bred By dog class
Open dog class
then Winners Dog

Then you start the same procedure with bitches same classes
Each winner from each class will compete for Winners Dog and then each winner from the bitch classes will compete for Winners bitch

Then you have Best of Breed class when winners dog and winners bitch competes with the Champions :)

YAY Thank you! while i will NEVER remember that... i get it now! :D we just go to see the pretty yorkies :)

Whewwwww I'm glad you understood it LOL...it can get confusing but once you go to more shows you'll get a better understanding! Go and enjoy the pretty yorkies :) They are a joy to watch and show!

The MFB shows have started having dog show tours and classes on how to understand dog shows at noon each day. They also have new exhibitor classes taught by pro handlers. The show I was at a few weeks ago had a class on how to use a wicket and rules for protesting size of your competition. If you ever show a dog with a height requirement, calling for the wicket is a huge deal and you want to make sure the judge correctly measures your dog. Sorry, I went a little off subject. My point is, AKC and the show superintendents are making an effort to educate new exhibitors and spectators.

OH SUUUUUURRRRRE...you JUST GRADUATED!!! I'm still lost, LOL. I still haven't been to a dog show, but am dying to go to one, so at least I'll know enough to be confused when I do go:D.

But really, I'd be like you; just go to look at the beautiful doggies esp. the cutiest of all.....Yorkies:D

lol.... originally i thought... oh i'm sure this can't be that difficult.. but holy man it's complicated... so for the rest of the weekend we will just be oooing and ahhing over the dogs :p

Also, each time after winner's dog and winner's bitch are selected, then they select the reserve winner. For example if the winner's bitch won out of the open class then the second place bitch from the open class would come back in the ring to compete with the 1st place winners from the other bitch classes. If for any reason later the winner dog or bitch was disqualified then the reserve winner would get the points. It does not happen often but it can happen.
