Oh I loved barrel racing was a rush loved it! Wish I had a horse again so I could do it again! But the dogs keep me from being able to afford a good one |

I don't have access to a stable and pasture land anymore...my mom sold our homeplace after she re-married. Our house is on the same street that I live on now and the new family has three little girls and two horses. I love riding by and seeing them out in the riding ring. Makes me feel good and brings back good memories. A great show horse can cost the same as a mortgage, LOL! (but for real) :D There's no way I could do it now without my family being involved anymore. |

OMG tell me about it! I have a friend that shows horses and I'd be in the poor house lol |
I appreciated the article and did not find it harsh at all. What bothers me more are the breeders that don't show and have 3 or 4 litters a year and still say they make no money. I don't see a thing wrong with making money. It is not a dirty word. Actually, I like money A LOT. I certainly would not cheap my dogs on anything they need (especially veterinary care) but I do charge top top dollar for my top quality puppies and people are happy to pay it because that is what they are looking for. Just because a breeder chooses to spend her profit traveling and staying in hotels and eating out in restaurants, flying to specialty shows, does not mean she is not making a profit. She is choosing to spend it on these activities. These are not necessary breeding expenses. No way do I feel that my producing puppies has contributed to the overpopulation of dogs. The people who have bought my dogs would much rather buy a dog than breed one and don't need the money. Be careful who you sell your dogs to and stop with these meaningless, one-sided loopholed contracts and you will never have to feel guilty about anything, even making money. |
