Hi everyone! As most of you know, my mother has been a Yorkie breeder for a very long time. Well, today, I showed her the Biewers dogs on YorkieTalk and on the internet and she just about died! We are very interested in finding one that is show quality, and looking to learn to show. We've never shown before, but we are very interested in getting in on what seems to be fairly 'ground floor.' It would be extremely interesting if the Biewers get accepted into AKC, and we were able to participate in AKC shows down the line!

Anyway -- I've read up on the BBCI's website and read everything they have to say, but I am wondering if anyone can put in their two cents about what they've learned about showing or breeding biewers.

*Also, I know they're going to be kind of expensive, but that is not really the issue. I looked all over the internet, and everyone I found will not sell their progeny with open registration. Are there Biewer breeders that allow open registrations, esp. if there were plans to try and earn their status as ch.?

The standard says up to 7 lbs - does that mean there isn't a minimum like the Yorkie's 4-7?

Could someone please direct me to a good website that explains the basics of showing -- like the point system or whatever, and how to earn ch. status?

I would REALLY appreciate all the help I can get!

As of right now, and for the foreseable future, the Biewer is not accepted in the AKC and so can not show with the AKC. Presently,the venues available for them to show are the NAKC, the IABCA and ARBA.. there maybe others, I believe there is something in Canada, our Canadian friends maybe able to help us there..

I have shown NAKC and IABCA, they are both very different from each other and different then AKC. ARBA is now another venue available and I'm sorry I don't know as much about that but I'm sure they also have good information available on their website.

Each of these organizations have different names for their titles and different qualifications for earning them and many diffrent venues where their shows are held. My experience is that the shows are alot less "formal" then AKC shows, the judges give you and your dogs critiques and will give suggestions if asked. It's been very exciting and a great place to start learning how to show a dog without the "fear" of doing it wrong, as the judges are there to help you if you ask.

How often do you show? How/when did you first get started?

I actually started just last year.. I live in Minnesota so there are not to many shows up this way with any of the clubs (other than AKC of course boohoo) so I travel some.. gets expensive to fly the dogs so all my frequent flyer miles are now gone so I have to start charging things to earn more miles... my husband is not as excited about that as I am :(

I just went to a show in Penn. last month, we have a show in Minnesota in May so I'll be going to that one for sure.. They are GREAT fun. There were 33 Biewers at the show in Penn. I've never seen so many Biewers in one place ever..it was heaven on earth!

I have shown my Biewers with ARBA and with IABCA.

There are some good judges on these circuits.

Where in the rules does it state 4 to 7 pounds for showing? I had a friend with a 3 pound champion male...and one with a 3 1/2 pound female who was also a champion.

No, I was asking if the standard is like the Yorkie which is 4-7 lbs, because one of the registries I read said "up to 7 lbs". That's all I was asking.

What I meant is... the Yorkie standard for the ring is not 4 to 7 pounds?

the real biewers come from germany, and could be imported, if you are approved to become an owner. i think..

I have been showing with the IABCA since June of 2005 and that was the first time ever stepping into a show ring in my life. Here we are now ...:)

That is my Homer that was imported from Germany and I have been in love ever since.

We do have additional show venues as stated in these threads and I have shown with NAKC, Gabe (Homer's son) just received his Championship with his second 5 point major. He is now a Adult Champion with IABCA and NAKC. We are excited about showing in the upcoming Specialty that will be in Orlando the first weekend in May.

Well congrats! he is a beauty! I contacted a few breeders in Germany I met the sweetest woman. It will be about the same price to buy one here as it will be to purchase airfare and buy one overseas. At least, that's what I have found so far.

There are also real Biewers here in the U.S. Their parents have been imported and we now have some second and third generation puppies being born and registered in the U.S. with either dual registration or registration with a U.S. registry.

just wondering what the price is.. i have seen biewers for no less than 2000:)

The one lady I found sells both males are females for $1200 - which works out to be about 1900 in US. From where I live in September, a round trip ticket to Germany is a little more than $500. If we did decide to do that, we would of course need a few extra hundred dollars for traveling and whatnot. We probably wouldn't stay too long - leave the same day.
