I suggest to everyone getting started to go to UKC shows to train you dog and learn to show. It moves a little slower and exhibitors have more time to help you. When you girl is ready to start winning in the AKC you both will have ring experience. We picked up a nasty respitory infection a few weeks ago at a show. Leave your babies at home. |

i have enrolled MeiLing in handling class for the last thursday of this month for a start...hehe |
sick Illnesses is one of the draw backs to showing...there is a virus called.."dog show crud"...a breeder recently lost one of her champions to it...take a spare pair of shoes and always change before getting in the car...wash your hands when you come home and change your clothes before touching your dogs...I always left my carrier outside and cleaned it before coming inside...I have only had one bad bout of a virus run through my Yorkies after a show, 8 of about 14 were quite ill.....unfortunately when you have dogs at home it can be a real mess of upset bowels and stomach..and even worse. |
