UKC will give you a temporary number to show with while waiting for the registration to go through. You can show him in jr male and they also usually have a puppy match.
If you don't want to show in Hickory you should come hang out with us and get a feeling of what it's like. Aside from Va Beach, the Hickory Carolina Classic is my favorite UKC show all year.
He's a cute boy, good luck with him. (and sorry about his hair ordeal, eek!)

I'm so sorry that happened to you!

He is a show stopper either way and I'm sure you will have lots of success with him!

He really is handsome. I'd keep working with him in the ring, so that when his hair grows back your ready to show him.

If you are really determined to show him, I agree with the others! Take the time to work with him and learn all you can about the show ring. I sat ringside for years watching handlers groom and handle which really helped. Take him to conformation classes and work on socilizing him by exposing him to new surroundings and situations. I would also get him used to car travel. You can also participate in AKC puppy matches which we have fun doing, no points are awarded, but they are great practice for both you and Tucker. His coat will come in, and once it is 3/4 of the way there I would not heistate to get him out there in the ring!

You really need to get him in the ring as a puppy and let him get used to the sights, smells and sounds of the dog show. Even if you choose not to show him, take him to some shows so he won't be completely overwelmed when he goes to his first show. The AKC show in Greensboro is soon and there is always a nice match after BIS on Fri.

Where are you taking comformation classes? I know several people in our area that would like to go.
