Now I didn't say he's off with his handler LOL...he's here with me LOL...he has been out for a week but that's as long as he's been gone from me. He is attached to me and when he's with someone else he attachs himself with them but when he is back with me it's like he wasn't even without me :) I usually take him to the show and hand him off to the handler for the weekend but if things work out the way I want then he'll have to be gone with his handler :( I will miss him terribly but I will be at alot of the shows he'll be at showing my Molly.

I just ordered the Summerwinds starter kit a couple weeks ago...and love it! I am using it on Elvis, our male who will start in the show ring this year. :D He has a gorgeous thick silky coat and it no longer looks dull when I take him out of the oil. The almond oil was drying him out something terrible. His skin already looks better. I do re-wrap his head and facial furnishings everynight...and his ankles as they are more prone to tangle. He is a wrap chewer so I have to keep him in a jacket.

Donna...how do you apply the protect-a-coat...like it says on the bottle...or do you spray it on? Seems that it takes a lot to do the tub method, especially when I am re-bathing every 4 days.

I put him in the sink and fill it up to his knees and use a cup of the summerwinds and mix it in the water and then I just use the cup and keep pouring it over him for about 3 minutes and then I just squeeze the excess water off his coat and wrap him in a towel and then go brush him out and dry him :)

The Shaw's oil is petroleum based and I know that over time that can dry out the hair and cause it to become brittle.

OK thank you...that is what I have been doing...just seems so wasteful..lol. Gonna have to order some more! ;)

I only put him in oil once a week and yeah I buy by the gallon LOL...lasts me about a month I guess maybe alittle less..LOL

Have you guys every seen the bathing machines? You mix product with water in a sink or tub and this machine pumps it through a sprayer onto the dog. The nozzle has strong pressure but not so strong that it upsets or hurts the dog. Deuce is so funny when he takes a bath - he drops his head back and closes his eyes and gets an Ahhhh look on his face. Deucester loves bath time. One of the selling point is it uses a lot less product. I feel like my dog is a lot cleaner with this machine.

It is a life saver when you are traveling at shows. NO more using public tubs provided by the club or bending over the hotel bathtub pouring water over them with a cup.

I was somewhat bothered about putting an electric appliance in water but the package says it is completely safe.

I used to work at a dog boutique/grooming shop that used those.

For those of us that have more money than good sense....

It is helpful when you are grooming 3 or 4 dogs for the ring (and Tammie is not there to rescue you) or use less of those expensive products.

Or have friends with more money than sense who will sell us what they don't want for cheap. Some people are just so thoughtful and generous!

It's the stylist in me, I can't help it. I just love to play with hair. I just bred Connor and Remi so now I don't know if I'll get to do Chesapeake as she'll be due that Sat. Great timing huh?
