UKC & a Full Tail... I was delighted to see that the UKC has revised their yorkie standard to include the full tail. I know that not everyone likes the full tail, and I understand...I used to be one of those people...that is until I lived with one! I have to say they are so very charming. I thought it would throw off the balance of the dog...but not so...I could not imagine our two girls without their happy tails. :D Here is the standard for the UKC to include the tail...we have a girl we would love to show with a tail, so we will let her strut her stuff UKC style this year! ;) "The tail is customarily docked to a medium length. The tail set is level with the topline, with the tail carried slightly higher than the level of the back. If undocked, the tail is as straight as possible, well covered with hair, and carried a little above the level of the topline. On an undocked tail the hair will be a darker blue than on the rest of the body, especially at the tip." |
I show both AKC and UKC and find that UKC is more relaxed. The exhibitors are alot of fun and the shows have a picnic atmosphere. I'm sure you'll enjoy shwing your gal in them, she'll be a grand champion in no time. If you need other yorkie champs to compete against come to Va. I have 2 of them and Laurie has several as well. |
that is great news! If they are registered through AKC only, can you get them registered in UKC? |

I got the Deucester's certificate for being the #8 Yorkie in the UKC and invitation to the Top 10 Competition at the UKC Premiere. I had to skip it last year but I am really hoping to go this year. There have been some really nice dogs that started their career in the UKC including Nic Nac High Caliber and Marysilk Smooth as Silk. I would love to see your girl on the list next year!!! |
I have to say that I love a yorkie with a full tail :) |
I think the full tail is gorgeous. I show quite a bit in the ukc and am looking forward to seeing this. |
