If you show, what items would be in your grooming box???
 

Please be specific on items as I am making a Christmas list for hubby......

I already have a ringside table with arm......but, cannot find a noose...small enough.

And a travel crate, for show.


Yes, I KNOW what you are thinking....just try to apease me please....:):). I want to be ready to go when the time is right....:D

Tell me about combs, grooming aids, what kind and where do I get it? Anything else specific to showing and grooming Yorkies..

No laughing! I've thought about posting this very same question as well. In my very short time that I have been showing, one thing that I've learned is that each coat requires different care. Differen't brushes, combs, finishing sprays, etc. You'll have to practice at home until you find the right combination for your dog. Once you know what that is, then you'll be ready to pack your grooming bag!

She is very fast for deliveries. Looking at her supplies will also give you ideas. I always use a small metal facial comb with small and larger teeth spaces for the eye burgers and to comb out the hair around the muzzle and under eyes. The comb is good for teasing the topknot. Spray bottle for misting, plenty of clear rubberbands, bows, pin brush with tips, baby brush to soften the topknot front (smooth out the hair), satin painted finish chopstick for the topknot puffing, small clipper set - for the paws and ears, bait pocket (for when you do not have pockets in your pants, dress, or skirt), several leads, wrapping papers (for after ring time and ready to go home), good crate with food dishes, satin doughnut pillow for inside crate, and satin chin rest pillow for when you are working on the topknot, good quality towel with your kennel name embroidered in it, and most important a cart for dragging all the stuff to the ring/grooming area. Don't forget you will need a chair, so you can wait for ring time comfortably. Hmmmm have I missed anything... dog bait??

On the noose....what is it called? And does it have an emergency release?

Comb, does brand make a difference? Wire brush?

Don't forget a good flat iron, butane comes in handy. I put rinseless shampoo in there as well to keep the guys fresh underneath. Oh, and the little hooked scissors for cutting rubber bands.

ok shirley....you need a travel crate for the car ( prefer the the small medal ones from precision, it does allow more air than the plastic ones)...one for the hotel room. traveling x-pen.....Seabreeze has a nice foldable, light weight one that fits into a suitcase for flying.

Grooming table....a chair for you to sit. You'll need 2 foldable arms one for the grooming table and one for the ringside table

Hair dryer for the hotel room and a small traveling one that fits into your tack box (just incase your lil one has an accident just before ring time)

A container for your Shampoos

Chris Christensen butter combs are the best.....a bit more expensive, but worth it since they do last longer.....wide tooth comb, facial comb and a rat tail comb.

Scissors for trimming feet. A battery operated mustach trimmer for those last minute ear trims.

A tack box...I do love the canvas ones. And fill it with your favorite products for grooming. Storage box for Leads and Bows. I love the one from Whal Mart...small, double sided, that fits in your tack box. One side is long sloted for leads and the other has several slots to fit bows into. A box for bands.....bands of various sizes (lanieeltd.com)

Flat iron (chi is the best), but a cordless one is nice just in case you don't have electricity. Oh! you do need to add electrical ( one of those reel ones that wind up).

Water Bottles, Dishes for feeding.....

Oh don't forget a small container for putting those meds you may need for the road. A small flat zippered porfolio for carrying, registration papers, shot records and entries. A passport type wallet works great.

Wheels. Bungee cords....Shirley the list goes on and on...and as time goes on...you'll be adding.

oh the boxes for leads and bows are in the Fishing dept of Whal Mart

I got mine at a show when I bought my table. I also bought an emergency release to go with it. I have no idea where to look online for those things.

Where did you get the bait pocket? And what exactly is it?

go to this web site.....http://dogshowpro.com This is Woodpeckers and Bruce carries them as well as all types of show equipment. They have a loop to fit through your belt and a pin just incase you aren't using a belt. The bait packets are flat and compact....

You can also find them at dog shows....other vendors carry them. Cost about $5.00....different colors

toilet paper, I fold some up and put it in a sip lock bag
belly band for the boys and a diaper
small squeaky toy
small spray bottle show sheen
lipstick

The minute you don't have something that is when you will need it.
The good news is that some one around you will always share and help you out.

Glad to see someone said baby wipes and paper towels. Oh how important those lil items can be lol

I always have those in the car with us no matter where we are going now.
A couple of extra bags so you can toss out when you have to clean a mess.
We also carry a couple bottles of our water that they drink.
We also use a vinyl table cloth to use under the expen at the hotels in case of any mishaps we will be able to clean easily and keep the hotel happy with dog show exhibitors. That is so important that we keep them happy.
And remember when at the hotel, before you let the dog run get on all fours and look around to make sure no one dropped pills or chocolate etc.
We did find a pill the very first show we went to. I was so glad someone had told us to look before letting them run or it could have been a big problem for our dogs.
A cover for your table is nice, they make them with the pockets too.

Well I can't find the bait pockets online at Woodpeckers. I'll have to look at our next show.

I also carry wet wipes and paper towels. I also throw in about 4 bath towels. Bingo gets sick every single time he rides.
