21 Yorkies in Michigan Need New Homes The New Buffalo Animal Hospital in New Buffalo, Michigan is temporarily caring for 21 Yorkies that need new homes. The breeder/owner fell and broke her hip and is now in a nursing home and unable to care for them. They are trying to find loving new homes for all of them. She was a client at this clinic so they are familiar with the dogs. This wonderful vet and his caring staff are working really hard to asses each dog's needs and giving them wonderful loving care pro bono. Those that can't find new homes will go to a Yorkie rescue. There are 11 males and 10 females varing in age from 1 year to 15 years. They are all in the process of being groomed, vet checked and spayed/neutered. Two of the females are pregnant. They were all home raised. They are asking for a donation of $100 per dog to help pay for some of the living expenses left behind by the owner such as gas and electric. Some of the Yorkies have already been spoken for. I found out about this from my sister who is director of a shelter in the area and she called me knowing I might be able to get the word out. Serious inquiries should contact Kathy Sorenson at the clinic. The phone number is 1-269-469-5400. New Buffalo is near the Indiana/Michigan state line on the shores of Lake Michigan. |

That is so great that you are going to be adopting one. I would guess the puppies will go fast as well. Will you be going to visit her? Was she able to send you any pictures? Let us know when you get her. |
Does anyone know how close the shelter is to Ontario/Windsor border? I would be interested in one of the females if there are any left... Dawn |
Iam sending prayers that all of these babys go to wonderful homes, and prayers go out to the owner, how sad this must be for her:( |

She did not give me any info about the mommy. I will have to call her back and see if she can send me some pics. I'm sure at $500 the pups will go very quick, specially if they are AKC. |

Well Detroit is just a few minutes from you right? SO I am guessing 4 hours??? |
All Yorkies Have Homes Hi everyone, I work at the New Buffalo Animal Hospital as a receptionist, and I wanted to let you all know that all of your rescue yorkies have found homes! Thanks to everyone who cared about these little guys- we even have a waiting list going for puppies and older dogs! We've got all these pups bathed, groomed, and fixed, and they are working on being socialized and finding new homes. The support we have recieved from our community has been wonderful, and we never anticipated the demand for these cute little dogs. I will keep this forum updated if we do have any openings for older dogs or for pups. Thanks, :) Lindsay from NB Animal Hospital |
  such happy news, thanks for the update:) |
P.S.- The owner/breeder of these Yorkies is in a nursing home currently, and her granddaughter and our office manager are helping her catch up on bills and keeping her company, too. |
