Please check out this little guy He is just gorgeous Hi all I just found this sweet little guy on pet finder .....He has got the most gorgeous face, and is only 4.5 lbs.....I wish I could get him but he is too far for me. :( His name is Mickey http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=7557935 Puppy Mill Rescue. Inc Nationwide, NJ www.puppymillrescue.com Petfinder@puppymillrescue.com |
OMIGOODNESS, he's ADORABLE! So many liver shunt babies on Petfinder. :( |
Geez! He could be Adie's twin! What a sweet little guy! What would his adoption mean to his new owner(s). Since he has had the surgery will the seazures stop? |

I saw him a week or so ago and almost went for it. However, I work and don't think it would be fair if he got ill during the day. He is absolutely adorable. |
At one point, I contacted PMR and inquired on Mickey and was told he was no longer available for adoption...he had found a forever home, but still appeared on the less updated site of http://www.puppymillrescue.com (as opposed to http://www.puppymillrescue.org). Then I see this current ad...what? I'm a regular contributor to PMR so I was surprised by this. Maybe he lost his forever home? Nevertheless, someone should have contacted me as I filled out an application for him. |
Awww....He is absolutely adorable!! |

What could be wrong with me as an owner? I have a lot of experience with rescues and I own a yorkie so I have experience with the breed. My husband is home all day and my vet is willing to give me a rave review. I have a fenced in back yard. The only thing I can think of is that they don't like the idea of a giant german shepherd in the house even though I explained that he was raised by our shi tzu and protects both little ones. He truly is a gentle dog with the other dogs and my husband and me. Sigh. |
Well, I got an answer a little while ago. Here it is: (I think the one in blue is the reason.) Your application to foster or adopt has been reviewed by the Puppymill Rescue staff. Unfortunately, we are unable to approve an adoption or foster at this time. Many factors can be involved in the decision to place a puppymill dog in a specific home, including: - The temperament of the dog, such as shy, not good with children, excessively fearful, potentially aggressive, etc. - The health of the dog and/or the ability of an applicant to absorb unanticipated expenses for medical needs beyond basic veterinary care. (Mill dogs require more health care than your typical pet.) - The history of veterinary interaction on the part of the applicant. (We look for pets being up to date with vaccinations, altered, heartworm tested and using heartworm prevention.) Note ? We don?t approve adoptions to families who don?t have a vet reference of at least six months. - The understanding of puppymill dogs' needs by the applicant. - The ability to provide an appropriate, secure outdoor area. - The number of dogs or other pets currently living in a household. - The need for more supervision/interaction than an applicant's lifestyle allows, for optimal rehabilitation and socialization. - Having an unaltered dog in your home. - Other needs which are specific to the individual dog. Your desire to provide a home for a rescue dog is admirable. There are many rescue organizations and shelters, both local and nationwide, each with its own criteria for adoption. Almost all of the major breeds also have rescues. You may be able to find a better "fit" for your situation with another group. We welcome you to stay on the PMRescue list to participate in conversations and activities regarding puppymill issues. Everyone has a part in helping reach our goal of eliminating puppymills altogether. PuppyMill Rescue Applications Team |
