Tiny little sweetheart on United Yorkie Rescue!!
 

We met one of the little new rescues from United Yorkie Rescue! She's such a sweet little thing. She is, unbelievably, 8 years old [you just wouldn't believe it], is soooo little [4 lbs. but feels more like 3 when you hold her ... she is boney and needs a little more healthy weight, which they are working on] and her hair is just beautiful .... needs lots of attention, but I can only assume she has been neglected for a while. Her owner was old and died and none of her family wanted the little thing .... she is really sad! Her health is good, expecially considering her age, but get this, she has not been spayed!!! And she has been bred at least once and had to have a C-section!!! grrrrrrrrrr She is waaaay too small .... and her appointment for her spay is this coming Thursday! :) She has a tiny little foxlike face and is sooooo cuddly .... she just loves to be held and snuggled. If anyone is wanting a tiny little snuggler, please check their site. And, BTW, the first thing she needs is a decent name .... her name is Bullet .... can you believe it?? I am attaching one of the pics that I made of her yesterday! ;)

Awww it must be hard when a dogs owner dies and no one its familiar with wants it...so confusing for an older dog too I bet..poor girl..I hope she finds a home...has she been bullet for 8 years? Kinda hard to change her name if so lol...I cant imagine changing Darlas name after 8 months..

Yep ... if I understood correctly, she had her all her life and they lived together in one room. I suppose she lived with a relative, I'm not sure. It is just so sad .... we already have arrangements for our Toto in the event that something happens to Patrick & me. I would never, ever want her to be in the position that this poor baby is in!

Oh I so agree with you on prior arrangements for our furbabies in the event that something should happen to us...........how horrible for the babies to lose us who love them so much (and spoil them) to be lost with nobody to look after them but a rescue group. I have nothing against rescue groups as they truly do a wonderful work but I would want my babies to have "family" they know to care for them. This might be a good poll question as it might make people stop think about this if they haven't already!

What an angel!! She's just beautiful and will make someone very happy (as they in turn will make her happy!). I agree, if we haven't already made arrangements for our furbabies in the event something happens to us, we need too. When hubby and I took care of guardianship of our boys, we also made sure they had no problem taking Gabby (and now Gage) and explained that it would be upsetting enough to our skin kids having lost their parents, they didn't need to lose their pets - and my sister agreed!! So all of my babies, fur and skin, should anything happen, will be taken care of by my older sister:) - and it's in writing!

You are absolutely right! Even though when we signed an agreement that Toto would go back to Ava in the event we couldn't keep her, I know there would be no problem with us choosing her caregiver. I carefully considered the person we chose, observing Toto's attachment to her and her care for her own pets. Toto would be just as pampered and over-protected with her as she is with us! :p Thanks too for the poll suggestion ... I don't know how to create one, but will check into it.

I too hope there will be someone out there to love this sad little girl. It has to be so traumatic for her to suddenly be seperated from the one who has loved her so dearly and then be thrust into the hands of complete strangers! To me that's another form of cruelty!

She cannot be adopted to a family with small children

oh well for us! it's a shame most people have the sense to raise their children to respecrt and love dogs even small ones and we shouldn't be basically left out because we have small kids! oh well i understand though to a point i guess! i hope she finds a grest home she's super cute! i can't believe nobody in the family wanted her!

I, personally, think that it should be handled on a case by case basis. There are usually exceptions to every rule, even though I suppose I understand that rules have to be made. I have seen small children that I trust around Toto but on the other hand have seen children the same age that would think nothing about trying to carry her around by one leg! Everyone doesn't teach their children how to respect and treat animals. I totally agree that you shouldn't be penalized simply because you have small children! Our grandchildren, even the two eight year olds aren't even allowed to pick Toto up and carry her around .... they can play with her on the floor all they want but, when held, she tends to decide she wants down and just suddenly leaps! The kids totally understand [they have seen her do it] and it's perfectly OK with them ... they all love each other and have a great time playing!

I too hope this baby finds someone who will love her .... she is such a sweet little thing! ;)

Awwww... I feel better knowing she will get the loves she deserves and will soon go to a happy family. She is a little cutie!

I understand but not everyone teaches their children respect, especially in this day and age and Yorkies are tuff little critters but it is so easy for them to get hurt if they jump from your arms in excitement so I understand why they do not want children. It could be that she has never been around children and she does not interreact well with them. But for whatever the reason, I know they are only concerned about what is best for the furbaby. It's too bad that peope with children who are unruly and lack a respect for small furbabies spoil it for ones like you that seem to do what is right. So Please please do not be offended by that statement.:)

I am right there with you gal....with me being "older", most would not think I had small children.......I know I should be sunning in Aruba or Jamacia somewhere......so thank goodness not all people think that Yorkies are for homes without small kids.....otherwise I would be of retirement age before I was ALLOWED to have one....:lol tears
