3 year old female needs new home!
 

After several months of deliberation, my husband and I have decided to rehome Emma. We got her two years ago, when she was a little over 1. When we got her, she had serious anxiety issues, which we attributed to living with a breeder and with many other dogs for such a sensitive time in a dog's life. While she had started to make strides towards getting better, things have regressed (her anxiety issues and potty-training) since we moved/since our daughter was born in January. Her over sensitivity to sounds, movement, etc has led to her waking up Claire about 3-5 times daily, and as much as it breaks our hearts to rehome her, we feel it is in both hers and our best interest. We do feel like she would do well in a home that doesn't have kids (she is wonderful with Claire, but is only 4.5 pounds which will be dangerous when Claire is able to walk) and that is able to dedicate the time to do behavioral training with her. She really is a very sweet girl once she has warmed up to you, and she loves unlimited snuggles! She is due for a couple of her shots and is currently on medicine for her anxiety. I would send a copy of her vet records with her, along with crate, toys, etc. this really breaks my heart to have to do, but I realize that her needs are not being met with us, despite our love for her. What a sweetie. Hope you find the perfect family for her. Do you mind if I ask you about her anxiety meds? What does she take and what is her dosage? My daughter has a 3 yo yorkie mix that exhibits anxiety issues, and we've wondered if he could take something to help him. He is about 6 1/2 lbs.

Oh bless her little heart. I will pray she finds a wonderful family to love her. I know it must be breaking your heart to have to give her up. If I were closer I would be very tempted.

What a beautiful girl. I am so sorry that you are having to rehome her. Is she spayed? If not, I would definitely spay her before rehoming her.

I am in California or I would take that little darling. I agree, a dog with anxiety would not be good around children. I pray she will get a good home with people who love and understand the Yorkie temperament. Take your time rehoming her or call the Yorkie rescue, maybe they could help you.

What are the odds of finding a similar story to ours. Kaji was with the breeder up until his first birthday, which is when he came to me. He also has anxiety issues, took months to warm up to me, and at least 2 years to warm up to the rest of my family. He regresses in potty training when stressed or anxious, but overall he's a cuddle bug and a very good boy. Whoever gets this little girl is going to be so lucky. After these anxious babies settle in they're nothing but love 24/7. I wish nothing but the best for this little girl!

Thank you, everyone! This has been one of the most difficult decisions we have had to make. She really is a very sweet cuddlebug, and she deserves a family that can give her more snuggles! She is spayed, and we will definitely be searching for the best possible home for her, regardless of how long that takes. Thanks, all. <3

She is currently on Fluoxetine. What she really needs is a combo of the meds (until she can eventually be weaned off) along with behavioral training/therapy.

I know she will find a good home. I would love to take her but we have a 5 (almost 6) year old and I am not sure how that would work with her anxiety. My son is amazing with Georgie but I wouldn't want Emma to be upset or nervous. Best of luck!

Oh my gosh, she looks like my little Jack. If I could have another one, I would take her in a heartbeat. But since we are renting and the landlord says no more pets, then I have to abide by his wishes. I wish you the best for little Emma and I know that you will find a great home for her.
