90 Dogs seized in Montreal mostly Yorkies Hi I'm fairly new and not sure how to post the news report but I will try. I live on the other side of Canada or I would be trying to help out some of these poor dogs. Hopefully some of you Yorkie lovers are closer than I and can come to their aid. If I'm not successful at adding the link maybe someone can add it by Googling it. Thnx 90 dogs seized from South Shore breeding mill with ?really substandard conditions? |
So sad. Thank goodness they were rescued from there. I'm glad to read that Canada has substantial fines for running puppy mills & the nasty, greedy, in-human people that ran it will get hit hard in their wallet! |
Thanks for posting this.... |
I don't understand how people can be so cruel to animals. It's so sad. I'm glad these were rescued and I hope every one of them finds the loving home they deserve. |
Very sad indeed! Although Canada has made changes to the laws we haven't had near enough officials enforcing those laws. Hoping they make an example of this individual to set precedent. We have a local woman who threw her two morkies that were trapped inside a dog crate into the fire at a campsite. She has pleaded to endangering an animal and could get 5 years in jail. Waiting to hear her sentence but I feel it isn't enough! Just sick! I wish my country had stiffer laws, as I bet most of you wish your country did too! Hoping because she killed two they will double the punishment. We live in a small town of about 18000, I'm not a violent person but if I see her I would really consider punching her out! Lol! In an article they talk about campers hearing their screams, how could someone do that? Debra Holden Accused Of Throwing Dogs Into Campfire |
Wow people really continue to surprise me how crueler they can be |
Donations I have been involved with several rescues as I am sure most of you also have. It is very costly for these agencies to care for the physical, health and diet needs all of these animals present. Most of the dogs need lots of help. I found the information to make a donation online. 50 people giving $5 or $10 dollars each will make a difference. The amount does not matter. I also sent an email to the SPCA in Montreal requesting the procedure for a donor to send a check and not use the credit card online payment. Please feel free to email or call them directly if you have specific questions. According to the article the contact is Alanna Devine. Click on the "Donation" button at the top of the page. I received more information for those preferring to send a money order or check to the Montreal SPCA. They really need the help. A friend of mine in NY called them today. Many of the dogs are in desperate need and have extensive health issues. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Dear Tricia, To make a donation by credit card, you may go to our website (www.spca.com) and click on the Donation link (with the blue paw-heart) on the top of the page. Cheques may be written to the SPCA Montreal and sent to the following address: SPCA Montreal 5215 Jean-Talon O. Montreal, QC H4P 1X4 Thank you very much for thinking of us at this time. Sincerely, Susan |

I would suggest that If you want your donation money to go to those Yorkies seized in the 90 dog seizure you communicate with Mdm. Devine of the Montreal SPCA, to see in what way you can insure the funds you want to donate go to the actual care and treatment of the specific Yorkies seized..... |
|Should a provincial prosecutor agree there is enough evidence to take the case to trial, the SPCA will seek legal custody of the dogs, she said." I would imagine the SPCA already has legal custody of the dogs, but not ownership rights at this point in time, unless the legal owner of the dogs (ie the business has signed over their ownership rights). I have had some dealings with this SPCA in Montreal who has consistently rebuffed our club's attempt to help with 19 Black Russian Terriers Seized; and yes the owner/breeder will have their day in court. I find that whole article interesting to say the least, given my recent experience with the SPCA |
